    1. The most phenomenal book I have ever read ! If Lenny's life journey doesn't have you captivated from the first few pages then you're a beige bastard with no sense of excitement. This remains the quickest book I have ever read, and without a doubt the most jaw-dropping. How they never finished making a film about him remains a mystery, but then again who could pull off the great man with such conviction. READ IT !!!!

    2. decent read but falls into the usual cliche that only bad guys got hurt. His story and the violence was very honest and worth reading in between books

    3. Great readA great insight into the life of the Guvnor. I enjoyed it immensely. The man was a legend, feared and respected.

    5. "I look what I am a hard bastard" for a tagline and a cover image of an almost Peek a boo stance (I do not think the "stance" makes any difference whatsoever to Lenny McLean) ! The Guvnor cannot go wrong with a Selling point like that. And then the content of the auto biography . The no-holds-barred narrative makes for a very interesting/ amusing and "street" read. I say street because the narrative in the book is free-flowing but not haphazard. Not really literary but not too crude either(the gu [...]

    6. If you've seen the movie Lock Stock and Two smoking barrels by Guy Richie you'll have seen the character Barry the Baptist. A big formidable character who was an enforcer for Hatchet Harry. A huge intimidating character who oozed menace with his voice, appearance and reputation. Well that character was played by Lenny McLean who was no less menacing in real life. Though according to his autobiography 'The Guvnor' he never killed anyone. He was a boxer, a 'minder' and an actor at times. He was al [...]

    7. Decent autobiography for a man I only knew of from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. It basically Lenny McLean sitting down at his kitchen table, telling you his life story. From as far back as he can remember, and I believe up until his death. From his abusive step father, his run in's with the law, his fighting career, AND his time locked up while awaiting trial for murder. NOW as an American its a bit hard to understand the British slang. BUT if you enjoy a read about a man who lived a hard [...]

    8. I've read a lot of 'Hardmen' autobiographies, but none seem as interesting, intelligent and kind natured as the dearly departed McLean. This book had me right to it's sad ending and beyond, it's great that such a downtrodded individual could make a stand and a name for himself, both on the cobbles and in peoples hearts. The man is a legend and will no doubt live on in history. A fantastic book by a fantastic man. The Guv'nor is dead, long live the Guv'nor!

    9. Well, that an interesting experience to consider the crime life from the other side, from the villain's side. And to find there logic, and, well, I'll call that integrity or something akin to it, love, and heaps of fighting spirit. That's another question of judgement: don't be too quick to judge others, chances are you do not understand them and their lives at all.

    10. I read this and his opponent's book one after the other Roy 'Pretty Boy' Shaw vs Lenny McLean - I've read both and they seem to be in disagreement about what happened between them anyway, I guess that will happen.Overall, a great insight into a world I have never and never will know. is truly is amazing what some people get up to.

    11. borrowed and read this when i was 18 and loved it. i bought it from the charity shop to read on the train and couldnt believe how much i still love it. got to be one of the best portrayals of a hard man i have ever read. yes he hurt people with his fists but as he says he wasnt a bully and they knew what they were signing up for. such a gentlman

    12. Although Lenny Mclean lived his life earning a living from unlicensed boxing and petty criminality you can't help think that this guy was a decent bloke with lots of morals. He had a hard life losing both his parents at a young age and suffering abuse as a child, though to the touching epilogue whereby he gets diagnosed with terminal cancer.

    13. Read this book a few years ago whilst on holiday and loved every page of it. Read it in a couple of days. What an interesting man. You, as the reader, go from sympathizing, to disliking, to being in awe of, to rooting for Lenny. A brilliant insight to the life of a true crime legend and the London gangster underworld of old, miles apart from the drug-riddled 'scallywags' of today!

    14. Briliant book you wont be disappointedBrilliant book really engrossed me from the start and kept me interested all the way through brilliant read couldn't put my kindle down towards the end 5 stars worth reading

    15. Great book that brought Lenny to life and showed his softer side and the tough life he had, a family man with a GSOH brilliant book and ill never forget reading the last few pages where he talk about his biggest fight to date and one he would come to lose RIP Lenny

    16. Excellent read highly recommend to anyone interested in this type of book. Lenny seemed like a sound man and one I would have liked to have known. Check out his interviews and some fights on YouTube.

    17. ' I look what I am a hard bastard ' says it all on the front cover.Lenny was a hard bastard and this is a great autobiography.

    18. Fantastic book, he was a big hard bastard but a giant with a heart and cared for his family and friends. This book is great.

    19. Egy olyan pasas életrajzi könyve ez, akiről elméletileg nagyon jó életrajzi könyvet lehetne írni. Nem sikerült. Unalmas, érdektelen, felejthető.

    20. LedgeBrilliant read what a ledge. I'm not the reading type to be fair this is the second book I've read in 20years but it was a turner and Ive missed my stop a few times
