    1. Curse of Yama is an adventure and a half. This Breakout novel from K F Ridley will definitely have me coming back for more. Ridley creates characters you will fall in love with. The plot keeps you guessing (I couldn't put it down). This novel is very well written; I felt I was riding on elephant back through the deep jungles of India. Great read for every middle grade reader (yes moms even those kids who hate reading!) and moms don't forget to read this treasure yourself. Can't wait for the next [...]

    2. I acquired this middle-grade reader's book for my children and began perusing the first few pages of the novel. Before I knew it, I had read the entire book. Author KF Ridley does an excellent job of taking the reader on an unforgettable adventure, with one Chloe Walker, her father, and a host of other memorable characters including: an Indian friend named Tumera; the young native, Sotol; and Goesha, a smart and savvy elephant.Chloe's father is an adventurer and scholar who is on a quest to save [...]

    3. I saw the cover of The Curse of Yama and I knew that I just had to read it. So, in this case, I really did judge a book by its cover. And I was right. The Curse of Yama, the first in the C. Walker Adventures by KF Ridley does not disappoint. Right off the bat you are introduced to a spunky 12, almost 13 year old girl named Chloe. She is sarcastic, smart, witty and seems old for her age(Not like a lot of female characters you find in books now-a-days). She is close with her family, but also very [...]

    4. Classified as a “young adult” book, “The Curse of Yama” is for more than just the kids. I am in my mid- to late 30′s and I LOVED it. This book has a little bit for anyone. It’s full of adventure, thrills and suspense. It is a story that you are sure to get hooked on, to the very last page.“The Curse of Yama” is the tale of a young girl named Chloe who loves to go on adventures with her dad. In this adventure Chloe gets a little more than she bargained for. Her dad is struck by a [...]

    5. By: KF RidleyReviewed By: Crystal Trent Dotson When Chloe's dad unleashes The Curse of Yama upon himself ,it's up to Chloe to find the cure. Chloe and her friend Sotol , set out on an unforgettable adventure through the jungles of India, riding elephants , and dealing with poachers , they must decode the map and find the seed before time runs out and the curse kills her dad. This is a Wonderful book , great for kids , it's full of adventure , animals , and magic. And the illustrations are amazing [...]

    6. The Curse of Yama is a wonderful book with strong characters that children can relate to - Chloe is brave and determined and Sotol a true adventurer. Together, the two of them embark on a dangerous journey to find the seed that will save her father's life. I love the description of the jungle and the fact that the author puts in facts about different environment and cultures that children will soak up without even knowing they are doing so! I thought the animals speaking was a wonderful touch, t [...]

    7. I received a free copy of this to read and review. While I thought the premise had a lot of promise and I think the author had a great writing style (most of the time), I had some really big issues with this book. Firstly, the main character does absolutely nothing but show up for the entire book. In the beginning a magic medallion is given to her, then their animal leads her where she needs to go, then she's at a cave w/ a blocked entrance and it magically opens for her, for no reason, after th [...]

    8. K.F. Ridley's "The Curse of Yama" is a fantasy tale for the 'tween set. Twelve-year-old Chloe decides that it is up to her to unravel an ancient map and thus a curse that has fallen on her father and a friend.I had a hard time relating to Chloe initially. The book starts with her complaining that the family is going to India *again* (instead of Disney World) because a family friend has asked her archeologist father to help out with this map and the curse. I had to put myself into the mindset of [...]

    9. "THE CURSE OF YAMA" BY K.F. RIDLEYI was intrigued from the very beginning, K.F. Ridley has written a story that middle-graders and even adults will absolutely love and cherish. I really love the fact that she uses animals and messages about how it's wrong to poach and hunt them. The addition of Chloe's ability (which I refuse to give away :)) when she receives an amulet from Tumera lends just enough of a magical quality to the story that I can imagine all children wishing they had one! I know I [...]

    10. "The Curse of Yama lives up to its expectations, for being classic & a fun read; it took me on a bumpy ride thru india's rainforest via elephant back riding. Unforgettable. Take caution not to bump heads with experienced urban hunters & their wild canines, marking your every step of the way. I found the book best to read at the earliest noonday. For me, that did enhance the atmosphere setting written within the book. Most importantly, the one call Yama has a very interesting background b [...]

    11. Do not read the map. Yama will forever curse you, but guess what? Chloe’s father had to in order to save Mrs. DeFranc's life, and now it’s up to Chloe to take matters into her own hands as he lies dying.Armed with a medallion that gives her a marvelous ability to communicate with animals, a friend who tasted near death in The jungle wilds and one courageous elephant, the trio set out for the cure. With a deadly poacher on the loose and a race against time, will they save her father's life?Thi [...]

    12. The Curse of Yama is a novel for 8-10 year olds. Keeping this in mind allows us to understand the simplicity of the never ending drama. The author is not trying to stump an adult, she is trying to send children on one wild adventured I believe she does so quite nicely. If you allow yourself to be young again and run wild with Chloe, then you will be just as out of breath by the end of the novel as our young protagonist was. It is a fun read that children will love. Good clean adventure with some [...]

    13. A cute story, but not what I'd hoped for. I am of the group of readers who believe that even a child's book should be written well enough for all ages to enjoy. This book gave me the feeling that it was specifically written for children. The author repeats herself too often, and the explanations are too heavy handed. Middle graders will likely enjoy the adventure tremendously.

    14. Though this is a young adult book, the terror and suspense in it would have put me off as a kid. I was white knuckling it as it was. This was a thrill ride, and the author knew just how to keep you feeling as scared as the characters in the book. It was amazing. And it had not one but two elephants in it, what could possible be better than that?

    15. I really enjoyed this book. You've got adventure, curses and a kick ass female lead. I think both middle grade boys and girls would love this story!
