    1. Highly recommended if you're intrigued by the idea of making creative, artistic maps of yourself, where you live, where you travel, and where you dream.

    2. I seldom buy a craft book without first checking it out but I ordered this online because I love the concept of making creative maps of oneself and one's life experiences. I am so pleased with the purchase, Personal Geographies: Explorations in Mixed-Media Mapmaking exceeded my expectations. The premise I'd already found fascinating; the execution of the book's objective is supreme. So many different types of artistic maps are showcased (head map, hand map, body map, heartmap, geographical maps, [...]

    3. I love this book. It is a great teaching tool. I use it in my work with incarcerated women. The templates are a great. It is a very thoughtful and beautiful book. I've been using body mapping and life mapping for a long time. This book had some new ideas that were so helpful and easy to adapt.

    4. I got this book because of Maureen and Nancy and their work in creativity. I am also interested in mixed media - in doing mixed media projects, but don't have the space. I carried it around a long time, dipping in and out and not really 'getting it'. Finally, something nudged me towards it again and I picked it up and began to seriously read it. This book is self described as containing maps of the physical self, maps of experiences and dimensional projects with a cartographic theme (pg.5). Asid [...]

    5. I love maps, and I love the idea of mapping my personal journey, so this book is perfect. It's full of ideas for creative map-making in order to tell about yourself - maps of your travels, maps of your favourite things, maps of a year in your life . . . - and they're done on handprints, on body silhouettes, on old maps .One day I would like to take the time, re-read this book, and do some of this fabulous journalling. Anything is possible!

    6. Haven't even finished this book yet and already it has provided me with lots of inspiration and ideas. For a very different take on maps, this craft technique book really stretches your mind and gives you plenty to think about, whether or not you actually do some of the projects in the book. Reading a little at a time, I've gotten great ideas for journal spreads as well as larger pieces. Jill K. Berry gives you a broad outline of what she did but since you tailor-fit it to your life, the possibi [...]

    7. This was an interesting book taking a look at different ways to make maps other than the traditional road map. I liked the layout of starting with the head, body, hand, heart, etc. then moving on to experience and emotional mapping. There are project ideas included throughout that would be fun to experiment with. It's not a technique book; it's an idea and inspiration book with some very basic how-to info here and there. If you enjoy maps and are wondering how to incorporate them into your art o [...]

    8. Interesting concept to use maps to explore and document your life, but I felt the explorations could go deeper. The artwork is impressive and the instructions for doing your own are thorough. Unless the intended audience are artists, the quality of the work is somewhat intimidating. Having examples from non-artists would be more inspiring to the rest of us; however, it's still a fun book and good for gleaning ideas.

    9. Berry's approach to maps and mapmaking as both art and spiritual exploration devices is full of enthusiasm and the genuine excitement of discovery. The book is well-written, richly illustrated, and includes ideas and projects that are inspirational for artists and explorers at any level. I read this book on my Kindle Fire and found that format perfectly suited to this sort of book.

    10. This is a craft-heavy, practical guide to creating some really interesting artistic representations of a personal geography.

    11. This was a fun book to go through with a variety of ideas and media (of course) with which to express them. I'll probably go through it a couple more times and make notes.

    12. Another installment in the deluge of altered art / art journaling books out these days. Some clever and sweetly simple ways of commemorating place, and using mapping to tell/show a story.

    13. A mixed media book that explores the many way to create personal maps. I love maps. Always have, and got some interesting ideas from the book. 3 stars.
