    1. 4.5 stars I have a new obsession and her name is Tara Holloway. To be honest, I’ve had these books on my bookshelf for quite a long time and I haven’t had a chance to read them until now. But since I’ve had this Cozy Mystery kick, I figured that I would read these since I already have so many of them. This is the first book that I read from the series and although it’s technically the third in the series, I had no problem jumping into the story.Tara is an agent for the IRS and like most [...]

    2. This was just plain fun. In tone, the Tara Holloway series reminds me a bit of the chick lit books we used to see all over the place. The books are told in first person, and Tara is pretty snarky indeed. Because the plots involve goofy, off-the-wall mysteries and there's a bit of a love triangle shaping up, the comparisons to Stephanie Plum are pretty obvious. However, I have to say that, as of this book, I'm starting to like Tara better than Stephanie. Sure, the mysteries here are best described [...]

    3. Who wrote the rule that you can only have one man in your life?Tara Holloway continues her pursuit to bring in the tax evaders whatever way necessary. Her partner these days is very Special Agent Nick who is a walking eye orgasm and way too much temptation for Tara. Being in a committed relationship to a great guy makes her behave, but it is not easy.Chasing down the crazies who set up their own Nation and bringing a minister to his knees for more than a prayer group are every day events. Tara m [...]

    4. Ms. Kelly knows how to write a hilarious book. I have to say that I can see Nick's charm very well. Enjoyable read. Recommended.Reviewed in the July issue of Affaire de Coeur Magazine. affairedecoeur.

    5. This is a great series and this one is the best one yet. These books are definitely more "chick lit" than cozy mysteries, due to the fact that there is more "language", which doesn't bother me, but I know does bother some cozy fans. And there's more sex and thinking about sex. Anyway, this story involves one of my favorite things.a POS phony preacher who gets shown up for what he is. One of my big problems with organized religion is people like this guy. "Stealin' in the name of the Lord", and t [...]

    6. I found Diane Kelly while looking for more female sleuths with a sense of humor to keep me entertained. Tara Holloway, the protagonist, is an IRS agent in Texas. She's a little bit sassy, old enough to know her way around a hand gun and the blind dating circuit, and a good gal pal to hang out with. There is a romantic sub-plot with Nick the sexy new IRS agent and a good comic running plot that involves some nuts with ammo wanting Texas to form its own country and an Elmer Gantry minister running [...]

    8. I'd like to thank my sister for putting me on to Diane Kelly's novels. She graciously lent me her copy of this book while I was at her house tonight and told me to "just read the first chapter". So after five chapters she took her book back and I drove straight to our local bookstore to buy my own copy! This is the third book in a series, but it can be read without reading the first two. I did buy the other two books tonight also, but I had to finish this one since I'd already fallen in love wit [...]

    9. WARNING - Don’t read while kids are sleeping…I laughed so hard, accidentally snorted, then went into a coughing fit that woke up my three year-old! Diane Kelly’s quick wit and hilarious word usage will have you laughing - the gut wrenching, snorting type that isn’t very ladylike in the least! From her “pogo-stick riding,” to the poor dog named “Nutty,” and many undisclosed cases of spam, I have just added another favorite to my list of awesome authors! This is the first book I’ [...]

    10. I think this may be my favourite book in this series so far. I thought that the plot was a slightly different spin on the typical mystery - no murders for a start - and the need for Tara to be creative in order to bring down the 'bad guy'. I put this on my shelves as a cozy mystery, but really it's a bit more of a chick-lit mystery - the romance is just a little bit more explicit and the language just a little bit more vulgar than what most would consider "cozy". But the humour is dry and wry an [...]

    11. I really love this series, and this one hit close to home because my sister just escaped from a cult-like church with a pastor exactly like this one who was doing the exact same things!! Unfortunately he is still not in prison where he belongs --- maybe these two characters would like to take care of him, too. It was a very good read!

    12. This is a genuinely amusing romance in which our heroine takes on Texan secessionists and the god-fearing members of a mega-church to ensure the US government collects its proper share of tax. After solving the government's problem, all she had to do is decide between the two men in her life.opionator.wordpress/2012/0

    13. I really enjoy these funny well thought out stories, I hope these stories just keep coming as well written and funny as the first three were.

    14. I really enjoyed the mystery without the murder. Tara is a lively personality. Trying to take down a televangelist with a taste for his parishioners money. I can't wait 'til the next one.

    15. Tara's boss, Lu, is battling cancer and is having treatment. Tara's partner, Eddie, is doing Lu's job while she's off. Because of this, Tara, an IRS agent, has been partnered with Nick who she is feeling a strong attraction to and the feeling is more than mutual. Tara, though, is dating Brett, who has to go out of town for a month. She becomes torn between staying with Brett and seeing where things go or going with Nick who seems like a better fit.Tara and Nick tackle two dusty cases. August is [...]

    16. Reviewed by: StaceyBook provided by: PublisherReview originally posted at Romancing the BookTo me, the makings of a great book series is when you can read each individual book by itself no matter where it is in the series and understand what is going on and enjoy it. This book, number three in the Tara Holloway series, fits into this category. Death, Taxes and Extra-Hold Hairspray – the title is what grabbed me at first but the characters are what kept me reading. I’m not usually a fan of my [...]

    17. When Tara became a special agent with the IRS, she had hoped to just have a bit more freedom than her cubical at the accounting firm allotted her. Little did she know, the cases with all the wackos just seem to gravitate to her at the IRS. This time, she's got two cases of crazies -- a secessionists group who believe they are exempt from the laws of the US, and a televangelist who has been preaching one life but living another -- a life of complete privilege thanks to the pocketbooks of his foll [...]

    18. I received this book for free through First Reads in exchange for a review.I was interested in this book because April 15th and CPAs have always been unusually significant for me. This book looked like it would be equal parts humor, romance, and action. And it really delivered on all three. Main character and IRS agent Tara Holloway seems to have a knack for getting into weird danger filled situations. What shouldn't have been that dangerous of a job was off the charts for her. Some of the case [...]

    19. Another crazy adventure with IRS Special Agent Tara Holloway as she tries to ensure that all good (and bad) citizens pay Uncle Sam their fair share. This time around, Tara is after a crazy, backwoods militant and the pastor for a local megachurch who is not as squeaky clean as he seems. This book picks up three weeks after the end of the last book and in addition to dealing with her caseload at work, Tara finds herself facing challenges on several personal fronts. For one, her boss, the lovable [...]

    21. Tara Holloway is a special gun-toting IRS agent. She (and her co-workers) get the really hard cases. In this book Lu Lobozinsky, her boss is out of the office fighting lung cancer, and Eddie, Tara's regular partner is in charge of the office, which leaves Tara without a partner. She has been given two particularly challenging cases, one a minister who's using his mega-church as a tax shelter, and the other is a radical militant separatist who's trying to turn Texas into a separate country. Nick [...]

    22. 2.5 stars. Entertaining but ulitimately disappointing adventure with IRS criminal investigator Tara. The story itself was fine and as amusing as the previous ones. My disappointment came from the choice Tara makes in the end with regard to the men in her life. While I liked the fact that she struggled with which guy was best for her and didn't jump straight into bed with Nick because she was in a relationship with Brett I can't believe she chose the way she did. She acknowledged that she has a c [...]

I found a mystery,suspense,some humor,love,the IRS,taxes,a bit of romance,which all add up to a fun read.Who [...]

    24. Fun! I like these fast reads. The action is quick and the book is both humorous and has you on the edge of your seat. In this book, Tara Holloway is an investigator for the IRS. The major case in this book is blowing the cover of preacher Noah Fischer who runs a church called the Ark (yes, bad puns all around!) and is using the proceeds for all sorts of personal benefits. In the meantime, Tara is working closely with a partner @ work named Nick who she has mixed feelings for. And she is still da [...]

    25. This is my second Tara Holloway book and I found myself not caring for it that much. Perhaps the timing of the investigation of the church group with current events tainted it for me, but I found myself not enjoying the plot, the story, or the heroine's romantic plight. The best part of the story involved the boss at home and the search for the perfect wig. I may or may not give this series another try, but I won't be purchasing the book if I do. I'll wait to swap for it or find it at a yard sal [...]

    26. Tara is having a whole passel of crises - some professionalme personald a whole lot of goofball characters populate this IRS Special Agent's caseload. She seems to offend every one of the crackpots and is personally attacked in a number of ways - some very creative.Lu is working through her cancer diagnosis - (I suspect her hairspray caused it since the can description is the way it is! I could not do it credit here!)Bernie is tapped to stand in for Lu, and attempting to fill Lu's go-go boots wh [...]

    27. This book is definitely part of a series. References are made to events outside the book that surely came from one or two of the others. I believe this is #3. I'm sure #4 is out by now. This was a book that I was reading on the bus to school because I read the paperback. Then I got my e-reader and it got put in my library bookbag so I don't lose it. LOL When my e-reader (I'm reading Gods of Guilt on this now) needed a charge, I came back to it. Woo hoo. It is nice to read a book where there isn't [...]

    28. Rip snorting, hilarious and so funny you may want to be careful eating or drinking while reading. How can you take a job as hohum as tax collection and turn it into a comedy. Not only are the characters totally believable and the situations realistic, but the hot sexy innuendos are so fresh that I had to read some a second or third time to make sure of what I read. That is when I could finally stop laughing and catch my breath. I absolutely have to get the other books and read them minus the gla [...]
