    1. An interesting and short essay that takes a look at the roles of the notion (and definition) of success, solitude and failure in our culture, particularly in how those relate to education. The gist of the idea is that success used to have more meanings. For example, you could succeed by simply being virtuous or smart or even by living a comfortable life, but our culture has gradually flattened the meaning (and accompanying idea) of success to mostly mean money, ranking and appearance.
