    1. This is a fantastically heartfelt novel that launches Macomber’s Rose Harbor series so well. She brings the Inn (and Cedar Cove) to life in such a vivid manner that you can’t help but picture it. Macomber deals with real life issues while making you feel welcome in her characters’ lives. There is a mellow feel to the writing that you can really lose yourself in. Macomber showcases both the simplicity and the complexity of life. This duality is so prevalent in the everyday that I couldn’t [...]

    2. Surprisingly I finished reading Debbie Macomber’s The Inn at Rose Harbor in just one day although I was reading in what I consider a slow pace. I won’t claim it is a masterpiece that will take you by surprise but it is a definite easyread that asserts the fact: life eventually goes on after the loss and the grief.

    3. I so enjoy Debbie's writing, it's such a comfort to me! Her books tell wonderful stories, and I absolutely love the idea of this inn.

    5. Very emotional book. I laughed, smiled and yes cried while reading yet another wonderful book by Debbie. The plot is a great one. Jo Marie is destined to be a good inn keeper. She is a person that listens, respects and is very kind to people. Plus, this lady can cook and bake. Her story is so sad but she turns it into positive happenings. All of her guests have their own stories. She never knows who will cross her doorstep and how they will affect her life. It was so good to catch up with some p [...]

    6. Jo Marie Rose was 37 when she met and married Paul Rose. She was 38 when he was killed in Afghanistan. Needing a fresh start Jo Marie leaves her banking job and condo in Seattle and buys a B&B is Cedar Cove on the Kitnap Peninsula in Puget Sound. Ir's a turnkey operation and only needs a few personal things for her private space. She needs to learn the B&B business and the town. Her first guests arrive in January; one is Josh, back to his home town to care for his dying stepfather and tr [...]

    7. As a previous teacher of English, I would have to red pencil some of the text. I am not a fan of this type of fiction. Read the review if you want the plot.

    8. I loved the story line and enjoyed running into all the characters from the Cedar Cove series. I am wondering are we going to meet Abby again or was she a one time visitor to Cedar Cove?

    9. I love Debbie's Rose Harbor Inn series and her Cedar Cove series. These are perfectly written. Just enough sweet romance; nothing overboard. You get to follow the Bed & Breakfast owner's life as well as the people who reserve her rooms. You get to know each character and their life's story. I would recommend these books to people who love a cozy read & who love clean romance.

    10. Originally published on my blog My Novel OpinionJo Marie Rose is a young widow looking for a change of direction, she leaves her career, family and friends behind to start a fresh in the small coastal town of Cedar Cove. Falling in love with a Bed & Breakfast that is for sale, Jo Marie decides that running a B&B is her new calling in life! The Inn at Rose Harbor chronicles the first week or so of Jo Marie's new venture as her first two guests, Joshua Weaver and Abby Kincaid, arrive. Both J [...]

    11. I love Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove Series, and I wasn't sure if I'd like this new series. I did. But I miss my favorite characters from Cedar Cove. Jo Marie Rose is very likable - just enough sadness to make her vulnerable and a wonderful, warm heart. Her Inn will indeed be a place of healing for all of her guests (and Rover too.) I picked up this edition because it contains the novella When First They Met to get a clear idea of who the young widow is. Jo Marie and Paul's story brought both smi [...]

    12. I had never picked up one of Debbie Macomber's books but when I became a fan of the Hallmark TV series "Cedar Cove,'' I was curious about the book series that inspired it.This book reminded me of the show in that it was warm, relatable and full of characters we all might encounter in our own lives. If the show is comfort TV, then this book is a comfort read.Jo Marie Rose decides to start a new chapter in her life after she loses her husband Paul. She opens a small inn in Cedar Cove and she immed [...]

    13. While reading The Inn at Rose Harbor, I was struck by how, when faced with the tragedy of losing a loved one, especially so soon after marriage, most people would find moving on difficult, if not impossible. Yet Jo Marie is able to not only move on, but find comfort in memories and the feeling that her late husband, Paul, Is "helping" to guide her in her new life running the Inn. This is also the story of other lives stuck in the past, unable to move on because of the tragedies that they had fac [...]

    14. I had not read any of Debbie Macomber’s previous novels but knew she was a popular bestselling author. Based on this and looking for a good “vacation read,” I entered the First Reads give-away for her new book, The Inn at Rose Harbor, and was fortunate to receive a copy. The story is about a recently widowed young woman who moves to Cedar Cove as the new owner of a bed-and-breakfast in this small town. Jo Marie Rose’s first two guests bring sad memories of their own with them, and the st [...]

    15. If you are a fan of the film “It’s a Wonderful Life” you will probably enjoy this book. Macombers’ characters are not without problems, but eventually they get past them, sometimes with a little supernatural assistance. Since I live in the Pacific Northwest and have spent some time on the Kitsap Peninsula, I can identify with the locale the author has chosen for her new series. It is a beautiful area with lots of scenic coastline. The central character, rookie innkeeper Jo Marie Rose, is [...]

    16. 3.5 stars. I usually go for darker books -- thrillers, psychological suspense, murder mysteries (with historical fiction and the occasional memoir or supernatural tale now and then), so this kind of "uplifting" book is not my typical pick. However, I did enjoy the interwoven stories of Jo Marie, Josh, Abby, Mark the handyman, and most especially rescue dog Rover! I must confess that I kept expecting one of the friendly, welcoming townsfolk to have an evil streak, though, with malevolent intent. [...]

    17. I gave this novel four stars because I liked it so much more than I thought I would. This is the first in a new series by Debbie Macomber which apparently is also a TV series. It follows the lives of Jo Marie and two of her guests at the B&B she has just purchased. It is a quiet book. The characters are all suffering from loss of some kind and are learning to open their hearts and live again. It is well written and I was only really annoyed when the characters conversed with dead people (and [...]

    18. What a lovely and heartfelt new series from Debbie Macomber. The story focuses on three characters interrelated through their meeting at Rose Harbor Inn. Each is their own worst enemy as they are tormented in their minds by past events. There is redemption and change for the better in each of the characters. This is definitely a "feel good" read and I look forward to future installments in this series.I am grateful to author, Debbie Macomber, and the Firstreads program for having provided a fre [...]

    19. On the bright side, I finished this whole book in a day, which was pretty great. But the writing isn't the best in the world and the plots were very hallmark-y. Abby annoyed me. The narrator kinda annoyed me, too? I was disappointed at the lack of romance for a book that's categorized as a romance novel and surprised at the amount if spiritual talk for a book that isn't labeled "inspirational fiction." I'd stick it with Mary Alice Monroe and Wendy Wax in general fiction instead of slotting it ne [...]

    20. I know I should not give this 5 stars but for me it is a guilty pleasure. Great company on a business trip from the UK to Fort Worth to New York. I just need something easy that will keep me company and this book fitted the bill. Hokey, obvious and you can see the plot development coming like a Downtown 6 train! It does not confront or ask too much of you. Probably not a good thing, I am hoping one day to meet the % of Cedar Cove residents who are gay, or the women who are pro-choice! I wonder i [...]

    21. What I am hoping is that this is a new series that I will enjoy as much as her Cedar Cove series. IN this book, Jo Marie Rose, moves to Cedar Cove and buys a Bed and Breakfast after the death of her husband of a very short time. She is pleasantly surprised by the welcome she receives from the town. We meet new residents of Cedar Cove and briefly touch base with some of the regulars from the other series. Jo Marie's first guests are wounded souls like herself and in Debbie Macomber's fashion, the [...]

    22. It was awesome being back in Cedar Cove! I've missed my old friends and it was nice that Debbie, sprinkled them in to the new series! In this first book we meet Jo Marie who has just opened up a Bread And Breakfast Inn. She only has two guests, but we soon learn that they as well as her are in some serious need of healing! Once I opened this book, I couldn't stop! Debbie has a way of getting you all caught up in the characters lives and you just have to keep reading to find out what is going to h [...]

    23. Just like the other books in the Cedar Cove and Rose Harbor Inn series, this one is a lighter, easier read that leaves the reader with a feeling of peace. This particular book focuses on three main characters who are all dealing with a loss of some type and are struggling to move forward and find their own inner calm. One of the things I love about this book and the others in the two series previously mentioned is that the town and the people in it are always a part of the story so you feel like [...]

    24. A typical Debbie Macomber book (which I won on - thanks!) that is the first in a new series she's writing. It reminded me very much of watching The Waltons on TV; various life issues come up, everybody deals with them, and by the end of the show (or in this case, book) everything is settled and life goes on. Not the most exciting book, but if you're looking for something warm and cozy (and that will probably make you cry at the end), this is the book for you. Definitely a "women's fiction" book [...]

    25. I received this book for free from the Early Reviewer program in exchange for a review. This book is not my typical read, which is probably why I didn’t really get into it. It’s too sappy for my tastes. The Jo Marie story line was good, but a bit too cliché with the premonitions and seeing her deceased husband. The story lines of her guests were very predictable; I saw the events coming a mile away. This book is great if you’re looking for a mindless read, maybe on the beach or something [...]

    26. I LOVED this book. Debbie Macomber knows how to write good books, that's all there is to it. I read the previous Cedar Cove series and loved all of them so I had a hunch this book would be good too. The story has completely new characters that live in or are visiting Cedar Cove. Some characters from the original series make an appearance which was a fun little surprise. If you have not read the original series, don't worry! Like I previously mentioned, this is a new series and each book is it's [...]

    27. I love Cedar Cove. When Debbie Macomber announced that she was ending the Cedar Cove series, I was literally ill. I grew to love the people in Cedar Cove. When Debbie announced that she was writing another series still set in Cedar Cove, it was a cause for celebration. This book is AWESOME. And, Peggy Beldon makes a visit and Grace Harding and even Olivia. Read this book - yes it's a romance and it's pretty and it's not War and Peace. I don't want to read War and Peace. I want to be taken away to [...]

    28. Jo Marie Rose is devastated when her husband is killed shortly after they are married. Looking for healing and a purpose to her life she buys a Bed and Breakfast in Cedar Cove. She renames it The Inn at Rose Harbor in honor of her husband. Her first two guests need healing of their own. Abby is looking for absolution for the fatal accident that killed her best friend. Josh has returned to confront his dying stepfather and reclaim some of his mother's possessions. With the help of friends these t [...]
