    1. "'By people I do not mean end strength,' he would emphasize, 'I do not mean MOS's [military occupational specialties], I do not mean files, I do not mean any such categories that deal with people as a commodity. I mean people as individual human beings who make up the squads and the companies and the divisions, and upon whom our security ultimately depends. They have confidence and anxieties. They have abilities and shortcomings. They have ideas, ideals, hopes -- and some uncertainties and fears [...]

    2. Another general worthy of study by our country's military leaders. Pretty one-sided and uncritical book, though. Viet Nam was way more complex than Sorley makes it out to be, I think!Creighton Abrams deserves a better researched biography in the future. Maybe Carlos D'Este could give it a shot, though he seems mainly interested in WW II.

    3. Not as well-written as some biographies that I've enjoyed. But this book is thoroughly-researched and informative. I continue to revise my perspective on Vietnam and some of the actors.
