    1. I have to admit I don't normally read this kind of books with all kinds of supernatural elements. After reading this book, I discovered again why I don't. It's just not my genre. I like stories that could really happen. Nonetheless I liked this book and this story. It's very well written and author Chandler McGrew doesn't waste time on unnecessary scenes. That's a thing I highly appreciate. Something that did bother me from time to time were all the comparisons the author made. The words "it was [...]

    2. Crossroads wastes no time in telling its story, opening with intrigue, foreboding, and a tragic turn of events, instantly endearing the reader to the main character, Kira. After mere pages, I really felt for Kira and Jen, and journeying with them through the book, was wishing for their happy ending. In fact, all the characters are likeable, each having depth and distinct personality.McGrew begins by building the tension one tingle at a time, until before you know it your entire spine reverberate [...]

    3. Paranormal YA without the Romance is ExcellentI have gotten tired of the overwhelming paranormal romance YA shtick with all the teen drama inherent in the genre. In Crossroads we have YA paranormal without any of the teen drama normally associated with the genre. It may be because there was no romance, or no school setting.Kira, our protagonist, is a carney. She is intelligent, spiritual and streetwise. Where she is ignorant is in modern life such as cell phones, television and the Internet, con [...]

    4. Crossroads by Chandler McGrew is a story about a teen girl named Kira who loses everything she has ever known and must battle the Empty-Eyed Man and his minions with the help of friends, family and a few strangers. Can she save her family's legacy?Kira is the only child raised in the life of the carnival. Her parents, and everyone she knows, is tragically murdered one night. Filled with cryptic messages from her parents, a strange eye amulet, and a traveling companion named Jen, Kira is on the r [...]

    5. I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review. This is an intriguing and thrilling story. I loved it!Kira Graves is a wonderful character. She is a young girl living with her family in a carnival. She has a special ability - she can make money by just thinking about it (I wish I had that ability!). I really liked her spirit and courage when faced with imminent danger. She is one plucky kid! She has a best friend called Jen, and they are as close as sisters. However [...]

    6. Wow. This book is a fantastic read. Crossroads is a paranormal suspense with an edge of mystery. You’re drawn into the strange world of a carnival, but quickly realize there is something much darker at work.Chandler McGrew reveals clues as to what is going slowly throughout the plot, never revealing what exactly is going on until the climax of the story. I had guesses as to what was going on, but nothing concrete. The paranormal side of things was something fresh and new. I won’t reveal what [...]

    8. already knew that Chandler McGrew was a talented writer after I read his other work, The Remnant. So I didn't expect to be disappointed with reading Crossroads, and I wasn't.I may have to take a break from paranormal books after reading this one. It really left me on the edge of my seat and literally shaking with anxiety. Chandler sucks you into the world of Sheila and Kira as if you are standing right there with them. Seriously, the Empty-Eyed Man was completely frightening!!Chandler McGrew is [...]

    9. So look, this just isn't my genre - that horror stuff I expected. I liked NOS4A2 but didn't run right out and buy another Joe Hill And I don't read Mr King. And, in full disclosure, I count Chandler as friend, although he's 2000 miles away in his wonderful secluded hideaway. This book was just exciting, interesting, well told, with numerous characters you cared about immediately, and has a story you can't wait to see how it ends.If you want to dig into it I'm sure you can pull out some thoughts ab [...]

    10. I have found another great author. I didn't like this one as much as I did Remnant, but Remnant should have been a ten star, I like it that much. But where Remnant was deep and heavy and gave me tons to think about, this one was light but scary. I guess this one was one of those YA books that I don't usually care for but this one was more involved like Stephen King's novels. I loved Kira, the 14 year old heroine. I loved the magical carnival people and the empty-eyed man was very scary. The big [...]

    11. I'm not usually into the types of books with multiple worlds and their own dialect, but I have to admit that this was a great book. The author did a great job diving right into the story and getting through to the reader. I read this in just a few days. It wasn't a long book and I was caught up in the story within the first chapter. The author has a great imagination and I really look forward to reading another book by him. I recommend that you check this one out. This would be a great weekend g [...]

    12. This was I slow burner for me. I enjoyed it but it took me a while to get into it. As it drew nearer to the climax though I was hooked. There was a lot of mystery surrounding the story and I often felt the answers were right there on the page I was just missing them. The story was told from different perspectives and were quite a few mini cliff hangers that had me reading on to see what would happen next.It was filled with suspense and horror although not so scary I couldn't sleep.overall A good [...]

    13. I don't really know what to say about this book. Maybe I'm still trying to process all that this book had to offer. However, I will say that Chandler McGrew wrote this book exceptionally well combining a well timed pace with a hint of suspense that kept me wanting to find out more but only revealing just enough to never fully figure out what was just around the corner. This book is fun enough to read with short chapters but I don't feel it would leave me with any real lasting impression. It's wo [...]

    14. Chandler McGrew can pen a scary tale. This book took me to the edge of my seat so many times, I lost count. The pace is fast--and frightening. I won't get into the plot. I'll just say it was well-conceived, and although complex, well-executed.McGrew knows how to flesh out a character and to get the reader pulling for them. Excellent character development. The writing is good, editing is good. I'd set this on my bookshelf next to the master, Stephen King.

    15. I'm sorry, but I just couldn't read farther than the first fifty pages The story didn't capture me at all. I was actually bored and rolled my eyes a few times before I finally gave up
