    1. I am a woman who enjoys guilty pleasures. I watch Bollywood movies at 3am. Eat ‘smores when I should be eating carrot sticks. Listen to Young the Giant sing “Cough Syrup” roughly 40 times a day. The way I see it…life is too short to NOT indulge yourself. See the Snickers? Want the Snickers? Eat the freaking Snickers! Most of my guilty pleasures are harmless. An hour here….50 calories there. Poof gone. Moving on. But that is NOT the case when it comes to my obsessive fascination with all [...]

    2. If you're looking at this thinking Kate O'Hare will be a wacky character like Stephanie Plum, or that it'll be more of a mystery, you might want to re-evaluate. It's actually a little more like the TV show Leverage: strange, with weird characters, but not Stephanie/Diesel weird, and with a few interesting cons along the way. (Although obviously it's a different universe, as Kate's supposedly an ex-SEAL.) I also felt disconnected from the story, as if I were watching it unfold through a window ra [...]

    3. Ever watched White Collar, the USA television series about a dashing con man forced to work with his FBI nemesis to solve crimes and stay out of jail? Yes? Then you have the basic premise for The Heist. Nick Fox is the best con around, and Kate O'Hare, ex-Navy SEAL, current FBI agent, is not too shabby at her job either. She takes Nick down when he attempts to steal the Crimson Teardrop, a rare two-carat red diamond. But with the help of paper, paint, and a tape recorder, Nick gives U.S. Marshal [...]

    4. I read the first book of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plumb series right before this book and I think I enjoyed the characters in this story better. It's still a good and a light read but the main character is not as crazy/silly. A woman detective along with a conman she has been trying to catch in the act for years, must work together running an elaborate con in order to catch a thief that has embezzled half a million dollars. It was fast moving and had original characters.

    5. 3 STARS”To our grand adventure.”“This is not an adventure,” Kate said. It’s a job. We aren’t doing it for fun or profit.”“Okay, let’s try this again,” Nick said, and raised his glass for a new toast. “To a long and fruitful relationship.”“This isn’t a relationship,” Kate said. “It’s strictly professional. Don’t you forget that for one second.”Nick sighed and held up his glass again, eyeing her warily as he said,” May misfortune follow us the rest of our li [...]

    6. This was a fun read. For those who like Stephanie Plum, it had some of her fun but this is a smarter read. It reminds me some of White Collar with an FBI agent, Kate, working with Nick, a master con. There's an attraction there so it will be interesting in future books to see if it's acted on. Maybe a bit like Moonlighting?

    7. This was like the book equivalent of sitting in a Saturday matinee, eating popcorn and having just an afternoon of mindless fun.I love the tv show Leverage and this book is exactly in that vein. It is book that relies on the work of a long con to get the bad guys. The main characters are Nick Fox and Kate O'Hare. Nick is a handsome, charming thief who is always thinking ten moves ahead. He has perfected the art of the grift. Kate is the ex-military FBI agent who has been chasing Nick for years. H [...]

    8. I am a huge fan of Janet Evanovich and I am not sure why so many are raving about this book. Frankly, the characters were, for the most part, flat and not well developed. There were males who were part of Kate’s team who all sort of blended in together and who became just names to me. In earlier novels, the author does stretch the truth, but, for the most part, the experiences and actions are believable. In this book, there is very little credibility and the experiences of Kate and her team ar [...]

    9. This book was fun! The introduction to the main characters, which can often be tedious in the first book of any series, was humorous. There was a bit of a lag while the premise was being set up, but once the actual "mission" got started, it was fascinating. The mystery is not the resolution, but how they got there and they fooled me. The writing duo of Evanovich and Goldberg seem well matched.

    10. I am so sad to say that I wasn't really impressed with The Heist by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg. You know I'm a giant Evanovich fan. I count Stephanie Plum and Lula as some of my best friends. (Sure, they only come around when I open a bookill) Lee Goldberg is a television producer and he produced Monk, which is one of my favorite shows.Still, The Heist just doesn't come through. It struck me as a rip-off of White Collar, the USA Network series, sans Matt Bomer--which is the main reason to [...]

    11. The Heist: A NovelThe Heist: A Novelby Lee GoldbergEdition: HardcoverPrice: $15.69This review is from: The Heist: A Novel (Hardcover)"What we are doing is more like a heist only with a person instead of an object. A successful heist is one that nobody notices until it's over and the thieves are long gone"If you have ever read the novels by Tim Dorsey or the early works by Carl Hiaasen you might like this novel very much. I had hoped that it was going to have the romantic heat and comedic flare a [...]

    12. This is the first in a new fun series – and I can tell you I was hooked from the opening page. FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare is dedicated to her job – and to chasing international con artist Nicolas Fox. After years of chasing Nicholas, who happens to be charming and very sexy, she finally captures him and finally has him behind bars. But then Nicolas pulls off his greatest con of all time – he convinces the FBI to offer him a job – and ends up working alongside Kate, despite her reser [...]

    13. I love Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series and nothing I've ever read makes me laugh half as much as those books do. Anyone who is a Stephanie Plum fan will love this book as much as I did. This time the heroine is not the bumbling type. FBI Special Agent Kate O'Hare is ex Navy Seal and she is really good at her job. She is on the trail of the notorious con man Nick Fox. She finally gets her man, and then he escapes, only to reappear and becomes Kate's partner against a pair of even worse co [...]

    14. Let me start this off by saying I LLVE Stephanie Plum! And maybe I was hoping to see some of Stephanie and Kate, but I didn't. In spite of this, I did like Kate, she was just a little more serious than I was expecting. I also liked Nick, and actually I saw a little of Ranger and Joe in him. This was a fun little getaway book, that you really had to suspend reality for. It was like a jack reacher book wrote specifically for a female audience, that is my opinion anyways. I will probably read the n [...]

    15. The only redeeming quality about this book for me was the pacing. Otherwise it was sloppy, poorly written, and just not very interesting. Clearly, this is not my genre of choice, but I know there is better stuff out there. Had I not been reading it for class I probably would have put it down after the first chapter with absolutely no wish to ever continue.

    16. Great book. Lee Goldberg and Janet Evanovich are fantastic together. Encore, encore. I read the book in 1 day. Just took me awhile to get back to good reads. To bad 5 stars is the highest rating, it should get more.

    17. A real page turner!. I read it in one day, by staying up half the night, I couldn't put it down! I liked it much better than the Number books I have read. I think the reason it is more of a "boy" book than the Number series.

    18. It reminds me of White Collar and that's a good reason to start a new series. What I loved :- wooing with toblerone- the layered cons- I picked up a lot of trivia and enjoyed it- action packed. Arrest, escape, island, mutual benefits, theatre, role play, shopping- so much fun- the father daughter relationship- respect for junk food- chocolate addiction- a pirate named Bob.Laugh out loud moments :If Spider-Man was entirely green, couldn’t shoot webs from his wrists, wasn’t ripped, and was self [...]

    19. Reviewed for herding cats & burning soup.: amzn/2mR0E5vOh this series was fun! Fox and O'hare follows and FBI agent heroine ande con man she's been hunting for years. Who are now having to work together as a team to tackle off the books missions the FBI can't officially get involved with. Fun banter, captivating characters, a little danger and adventure. A fantastic time all the way around. The Characters:Fox and O'hare were as different as night and day and, yall, I LOVED their dynamic. She [...]

    20. Ever since I read Pros and Cons earlier this year, I wanted to get properly stuck in with the rest of this series. Firstly because I am a huge fan of stories which feature antagonistic characters and trust me you can’t get more antagonistic than FBI agent Kate O’Hare and con man Nicolas Fox. Kate’s been on Nick’s case for the last five years and despite being able to fraud his way through so much, there’s just something so charming about him that sort of doesn’t make you feel bad for [...]

    21. 3.5 StarsLife and a family emergency interrupted reading and reviewing for awhile. The Heist is funny and a fast read. Nick Fox is handsome, charming, and one of the FBI's most wanted man. FBI Special Agent Kate O'Hare has been chasing the world's greatest conman for 5 years. She always confronts him saying, "You're under arrest." But Fox always escapes at the very last second, until he doesn't. O'Hare has finally caught her man. Then the unthinkable happens, Nick Fox escapes from custody under r [...]

    22. This book is part Oceans 11, part Clive Custler--but with women in mind as the target audience. It was easy to read, and entertaining, but only if you're willing to check your feminist card at the door before you pick this up. The main character is smart, tough, accomplished (former Navy SEAL), ambitious, in great shape and can take care of herself. She is also tall, blond, beautiful, can overeat at every opportunity and never gain an ounce, frets over how to wear her hair, throws up after a big [...]

    23. Read this for book club. I don't think there is going to be much to talk about. It was a nice easy pleasant read. I was pleased to find that the heroine was not as stupid and inept as Stephanie Plum. I enjoyed her competence and didn't even mind too much that she was supposedly an ex Navy SEAL. I read the author's note that they knew that but believed there should be female SEALs so I was okay with her. The cons were interesting and I liked watching them play out. The secondary characters were i [...]

    24. I really like Janet Evanovich, so when I received this book for review I couldn't wait to get stuck into itKate O'Hare is a tough FBI special agent and ex-Navy SEAL, so she's pretty badass. For the last five years she's become obsessed with busting a tricky con man. Nick Fox is a con artist, thief and international fugitive. He's also charming, very good looking, and frustrating because he manages to slip away every time it looks like he's been captured. So when Nick escapes a courthouse and Kate [...]

    25. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook but man, do I wish there was some action between Nick and Kate! An 'almost kiss' here. Nick finally kissed her (with tongue!) and grabbed her ass. But no tangle in the sheets. Not sure if I'll continue the series. I need smut and I'm afraid this series won't have any.Scott Brick did a great job narrating this book. He had unique voices for the entire cast of characters (and there were a lot of them) and it was a joy to listen to.

    26. This book was exactly what I thought it would be—exactly what I hoped it would be—and I enjoyed every over the top, ridiculous second of it. Think Richard Castle’s Nikki Heat series meets White Collar with a little Leverage and that is pretty much exactly what this was.

    27. I was lured in by comparisons to Leverage. 2.5 stars.Look, it's frothy fun, but it doesn't quite *work*. I blame the fact that Nick has no flaws, though let's be real (view spoiler)[the random pirates at the end was also a turn-off. (hide spoiler)]Not sure I'm reading any more, but we'll see.2018 Reading Challenge - A book involving a heist

    28. 3.5 stars. This book was fun read about an FBI agent and a con man with a lighthearted atmosphere (meaning nobody involved in the shootouts or the car crash was dying or gravely injured, only gained a few bruises and bloody noses). It's was entertaining and what really perked me up was the villain was hiding my country, Indonesia! How exciting! “Why Indonesia?” “Because they have seventeen thousand islands, a notoriously corrupt government that’s easily bribed, and no extradition treaty wi [...]

    29. 3.5 starsThe Heist was everything I’d expect from a Janet Evanovich book—it was a quick, fun, light read with witty characters. After apprehending a con artist she’s been pursuing for years, Kate finally thinks she can rest easy—until Nick Fox escapes from the courthouse on the way to his trial. When she’s pulled from his case, she takes matters into her own hands and tracks down the elusive thief. Only to discover that her superiors want her to team up with Nick to catch con artists wi [...]
