    1. The traditional holiday carol is told in a warm new rendition with illustrations that are traditional but also very funny. The carol is unaltered in this picture book that shows what happens as the various gifts arrive. Though in the first pages it seems to be a book that will stack and pile the huge number of gifts on each page, this book is more subtle about things and therefore more successful. Instead it is a delightful mix of diversity, different cultures and the joy of the season. It turns [...]

    2. Delightful. The little boy and his true love are like beautiful porcelain dolls. The tiny details on each page and the people from different cultures were amazing. Also the different plants/flowers for each gift were fun. The boy wrangling the gifts was hysterical.

    3. An illustrated twelve days of Christmas. Lovely artwork. I liked the page spread with all 78 gifts illustrated together. Also, pages in the back of the book with the music and the history of the 12 days of Christmas were a nice touch. A new one to add to our yearly Christmas book reading list.

    4. A typical '12 Days of Christmas' story book, but this one does not cut corners. Many '12 Days' books just introduce each day and leave out the previous. Not this one. And the ending has a neat little addition; it invites the reader to find all the items.

    5. Avid bibliophile that I am, I have to exercise stern restraint when it comes to adding new books to my library. I had stopped getting illustrated books about this particular song long ago because it’s a well-known Christmas carol. It’s meant to be sung, not read—no need to keep getting every illustrated version that comes down the pike, even if it is by some famous author or other. But this book is sublime, the pictures practically vibrating with color and inventiveness. At first, we simply [...]

    6. Oh. My. Gosh. Can we just sit and admire how wonderful an illustrator LeUyen Pham is? I pretty much always love her work, but this is my absolute favourite now. The pictures are nothing short of amazing, and they keep this book from being a repetitive slog. (I love "The Twelve Days of Christmas", but it's not exactly the world's most exciting text to read, lol.) The note at the back of the book is great, too. I was worried Pham might repeat nonsense about "The Twelve Days of Christmas" being a s [...]

    7. This is a gorgeous picture book illustrating one of my favorite Christmas songs. You almost don't realize, when looking at the pictures, that it's about Christmas, and I like that. The illustrations are so colorful, bright, and alive that it is easy to get lost in them. One of my favorite things about this particular book is that Pham incorporates diversity in the illustrations of the maids, ladies, and lords, drawing inspiration from a variety of cultures to represent the different gifts. It is [...]

    8. Bay Area children’s illustrator LeUyen Pham (pronounced “Le Win”) infuses the classic Christmas carol with a delightful international flavor. A young boy and girl dressed in old fashioned European costumes discover each of the traditional items, from a partridge in a pear tree to ten lords a-leaping. Children will love examining maids, dancers, lords and drummers in traditional dress from all regions of the world. A splendid treat.

    9. There was much discussion about the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" after I had finished reading another Christmas story to the boy ("Three French hens : a holiday tale" by Margie Palatini), so we got this book. Must not be read aloud, but SUNG aloud. And now we know the order of the gifts for the 12 days of Christmas.Illustrations are okay.

    10. A Christmas book from one of my favorite illustrators, LeUyen Pham! I love the diversity in all of her work, so it's a bit too bad there are only two white children on the cover, but the whole book shows a wide range of people. "Pham brings an international scope to this traditional holiday song’s nothing short of a global postcard." - Publishers Weekly, starred review

    11. An illustrated version of the beloved Christmas song. Watercolor and ink artwork incorporates a diverse group of characters representing the cultural dress of multiple nations. The retro-inspired artwork makes this version a must-see. PreK-2+.

    12. Using the traditional lyrics of the classic Christmas carol, the illustrator uses persons from many ethnic cultures to depict the plot. Readers are challenged on the last page to find all 78 gifts, which are included on the two-page spread.

    13. The illustrations are quite attractive, but this is not my favorite illustrated version of the poem/song however. I read a digital arc.

    14. Beautiful illustrations. My 5 yr old took it from me after I read it to her so she could look at the pictures again.Read with Naomi and Julia.

    15. I liked the multicultural nature of the illustrations. The illustrator showed men and women from around the world (and from different eras) as the maids a'milking, lords a'leaping, etc.

    16. The "story" is the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas". What makes this book outstanding is the illustrations by Pham. Beautiful! Child's picture book.

    17. Another version of twelve days of Christmas with an international flair. Good explanation of background of the song
