    About "Patrick Husted"

    1. Patrick Husted

I ve been an actor ever since I mounted my first production on my front porch with most of the neighborhood kids If you weren t in it you had to watch it My friend Jerry and I put on several plays after that, and we actually made money I studied theater at the University of Michigan, then went to Cornell University on a full scholarship a lucky break I left with an MFA in acting and a plastic Hefty bag for a suitcase I hitchhiked to New York City, where I ve been based ever since For years I did nothing but theater, both in New York and all over the country In my thirties, I began doing film and TV as well.I love being an actor, and I might never have become a writer if I hadn t had a story that I absolutely needed to tell Set in an idyllic Michigan farm town in the 1950s, Excavating Pieces is the story of a boy growing up in a house full of secrets and fear, the antithesis of Father Knows Best In writing it, I wanted to give hope to other survivors of early childhood trauma and abuse I subtitled the book An American Childhood because my story is also that of countless others, including, in all likelihood, someone you know.

I know that this is a very common occurrence in the world, but that doesn't make it any easier to fathom. Patrick Husted must be a very amazing human being to be able to forgive the wrong that was done to him! I applaud his ability to do this, and only hope that others who have been through this kind of trauma [...]

    2. This stunning memoir is written with grace and courage, the courage not only to face the traumas of his childhood but the courage to extend empathy and understanding to the man who abused him. Patrick Husted revisits his past, but with the emotional maturity of a whole, healed man and the sensitivity of an artist.Patrick is also a brilliant actor. Because he is a friend, I was a bit nervous to read the book (what if I don't like it, what if it's not good?) No worries. I couldn't put it down. Lov [...]

    3. This was quite good and I liked the plot of it. This book brings back my own childhood when I wanted to figure everything out. It's a great read and I will be rereading it.
