    1. No one necessarily likes reading stuff like this. Or maybe it's that we don't want to have to. But, wow, this was possibly the most comprehensive, best explained and most reliable set of information I've recieved on food allergies. At times it caused me more concern, like when I read about the progression of a fatal reaction in chapter two, all the way from hives to organ failure, or when I realized that we'd often responded incorrectly to possibly serious reactions in my son in teh past by givi [...]

    2. In this empathetic and comprehensive guide, Dr. Scott H. Sicherer, a specialist in pediatric food allergies, gives parents the information they need to manage their children’s health and quality of life. He describes why children develop food allergy, the symptoms of food allergy (affecting the skin, the gastrointestinal tract, and the respiratory system), and the role of food allergy in behavioral problems and developmental disabilities. Parents will learn how to recognize emergency situation [...]

    3. This book provides a thorough overview of food allergies. The author uses case studies to show how food allergies present differently in different people. He also describes other allergies that might present the same symptoms. I was turned off by the perspective that mild allergic responses, such as skin rashes, should be medicated instead of avoiding a known allergen. This seems absurd to me. The author argues that if the allergic reaction appears mild, there is no reason to exclude a whole foo [...]

    4. Excellent, excellent book about food allergies -- not just for parents of children with food allergies. Also likely to be helpful to young adults or adults with food allergies as well, especially if they develop later in life. Filled with good, scientific information in easy-to-understand language, lots of useful case studies in plain English, and an appendix full of useful resources, including web sites.

    5. i found this book to be extremely informative. It's a bit scientific but not too complicated. It gives background information on the bodies defense mechanisms and how/why one's body develops anitbodies to certain proteins and foods.
