    1. **ARC provided in exchange for an honest review**4 Frozen Stars Title:Frozen Barriers Series: Barriers #1Author:Sara Shirley Release Date: May 23, 2014Rating:4 starsCliffhanger:No HEA:(view spoiler)[Yes(hide spoiler)]Frozen Barriers hit the puck in the goal! For Ms. Shirley's debut book, I was impressed with her ability to sweep me away into the story and these characters lives and become part of their world. I hated her mother with a passion, laughed with her friends, and got teary eyed a time [...]

    2. While this book did have potential for me, it floundered in the execution. From childhood crush to blooming romance, there were some pacing issues as well as discrepancies with realism. I get that these characters met as children and had an encounter throughout high school but years later when they hit adulthood, their one chance meeting developed way too fast and at a unrealistic pace. For a totally innocent girl, naive to the touch of men, she (view spoiler)[sure did give up the beans to everyth [...]

    3. Frozen Barriers, Sara Shirley's debut novel, follows Emily Cameron a professional ice skater who is living her parents dreams of stardom. She longs to live the life she dreams of, but doesn't have the courage to break free. Jeremy Page, a minor league hockey player who has been in love with Emily for years, hopes to be the one to help Emily chase her dreams. But with many obstacles working against them, they have a hard time coming together.Sara did a great job with her debut novel. Frozen Barri [...]

    4. No Barriers need to be broken down here. Love will melt these "Frozen Barriers". What a beautiful debut novel!Jeremy Page. You delicious hunk. Hockey player that rules the ice with a heart of gold. He has a chance run-in, one that will change his heart and his life forever.I thought from this chance encounter that I was going to hate Emily. I thought maybe she was going to be an "ice queen" at first, but I ended up loving her. She came a long way from "Barbie" to the Emily in the Epilogue. Speak [...]

    5. Loved this book from beginning to end! I loved all the detail and how the story line evolved. Excited to read Hidden Barriers!!! Excellent writing, Sara Shirley!!

    6. Sizzling Pages Romance ReviewsNichole's Sizzling ReviewsSizzling Pages @ Facebook Twitter:@SizzlingpagesEmail: sizzlingpages@gmailWow this one surprise this one was. It was heavy on the details but once I just tucked in and got lost in the story I was able to overlook how long it was. I just simply loved how meaningful the relationships were and how I was able to watch this couple fall in love , learn how to stay in love and above all else learn how to love themselves.  It's hard sometimes to [...]

    7. 4 Star Review by Jen SkewesFrozen Barriers is Sara Shirley’s debut novel and she did a great job with it. I fell in love with the characters. This is a wonderful love story about learning to stand up for yourself and following your heart and your dreams for yourself.Jeremy Page has been playing hockey for as long as he can remember. His dream is to play in the NHL but right now he is happy to be playing in the minor leagues and at the same time coaching and teaching the local kids. He comes fr [...]

    8. **BETH'S 3.5 STAR REVIEW ** Frozen Barriers is an enjoyable sweet read about two people who came from different worlds but from a very young age, kept having their paths cross. From the moment Jeremy Page accidentally knocked his skating Princess “Barbie”, Emily Cameron, on her butt at the rink, his life would be forever changed. For Emily, according to her parents, skating always came first, she was great at it but was never truly her passion but it was all she ever had known and sadly it w [...]

    9. “Frozen Barriers” is a true story about breaking down one’s barriers (pun totally intended) and allowing love to find its way in. It’s also about standing up for yourself and not letting people dictate your life.Emily is a completely sheltered, 21-year old figure skater. She eats, sleeps, and breathes figure skating. Her cold and calculated parents, have made it clear that skating is the most important thing in her life, end of. I really felt bad for her, as she missed out on many things [...]

    10. This is Sara Shirley's Debut novel Frozen Barriers. I enjoyed Frozen Barriers, it was a slow start but picked up its pace after the first 1/4. It follows the story of Emily who is the new American figure skating champion. Her mother always tried to keep the perfect image for the publics eye. Outside of skating Emily's social life is none existent, she has no friends, doesn't socialise with the other students at school, she's a recluse and that's the way her mother likes to keep it. Emily felt sh [...]

    11. Did you ever see the movie Cutting Edge from the early 90's? Well this book so reminded me of that movie, which I really loved because I think I had a little crush on DB Sweeney, like I kinda have a crush on Jeremy in this book. With that said this was a very sweet story and not all bubble gum and candy drops by any means, very enjoyable.I have to give credit to the author Sara Shirley on her first book which she did a great job on with the storyline in the book. Not that the book is anyway like [...]

    12. This debut book by Sara Shirley Frozen Barriers was enticing, passionate and sexy. Emily was born into wealth and pushed to excel in figure skating. Jeremy is a fun loving ambitious hockey player. Watching their lives intertwine was beautiful, complex and addicting. This story had heart and a thoughtful message. Follow your dreams!

    13. FantasticThis is a fantastic book. I loved the story line. Growing up in Massachusetts it brings a lot of memories back of the winters and skating. This is such a good book and it has its share of heartbreak and very happy times. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to read it.

    14. Fell I love with Jeremy and Emily. Many times I just wanted to strangle them for acting so immature! And the ending was a complete surprise. Not sure how long I have had this on my reader, got it for free one day but now I am mad I can't get the rest on my reader. Anyone know where to get the e-copies???Would have Bern 4 stars if I could keep reading.

    15. ✯✯4 Ice Melting Stars!!✯✯"Appearances, Emily--always remember you must not embarrass the family."Let me start off with I really did like this book!! I originally decided to read this book after I read the synopsis. Simply because when I was younger one of myFAVORITEmovies was'The Cutting Edge'. It was about a washed out hockey player falls for a stuck up figure skater. When I read the synopsis I said this was definitely my next book. I'm really glad I read this book!!Emily & Jeremy m [...]

    16. America figure skating star, Emily Cameron, has been pursuing her parents’ dream all her life. Minor-league hockey player, Jeremy Page, has always loved the game.It has been ages since Emily and Jeremy have seen each other, once skating at the same rink. Years later they are reunited, and Jeremy will do everything in his power for chance to get to know Emily better. I love that Frozen Barriers is written in two-person point of view. It was powerful knowing both Emily and Jeremy’s viewpoints. [...]

Frozen Barriers by Sara ShirleyGenre: Contemporary RomanceAge Group: New AdultRelease Date: May 22nd 2014Print Length: 267 pagesFormat: Kindle eARCVia tour hostOverall Rating: 3.5 Stars Emily Cameron lived and breathed figure skating as far back as she can remember. Thanks to the fact that she had a very controlling and obsessive stage Mother it was basically all she did. 18. I got a copy of Frozen Barrier for the Blog tour I am hosting for burning barriers in exchange for my honest review. Now this is the first book i'm reading of Sara Shirley. I love her style and i think this is the beginning of a beautiful love affair.Frozen Barriers is my first sport novel I also have read - I love those types of movies but yet I haven't read a book so i wasn't sure how to approach this book."just live in the moment and let your heart tell you what to do before your mind starts w [...]

    19. I was completely blown away by this debut novel! This story follows Emily Cameron, an up and coming figure skater who is living her parent's dream of making it to the olympics and Jeremy, a talented hockey player with supportive and loving family who truly enjoys the game. It is told from alternating POVs and sometimes for me, that can feel disjointed but not in this case at all! It made the story so much more complete seeing it from both sides. The words seemed to flow effortlessly and it was s [...]

    20. I love a book when the opposites are so different but yet so perfect for each other. Sara Shirley does a great job in that with Frozen Barriers. Even though these characters come from the same area, they are polar opposites. They fight to make it work and the result is a good ole love story! Sometimes you just need to read a love story that will melt your heart. I think the author did an amazing job in her debut novel in giving us just that. I also loved that in each chapter we get each characte [...]

    21. I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.I just finish reading this book, and let me just say that I love it, I felt in love with it from the first page to the last. I love the characters, and love how the book turn out to be, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away. The story begging with Emily, she is eleven years old figure skater, while she is rushing to the locker room, she bump to a thirteen year old Jeremy, who just finish hockey pract [...]

    23. Emily pretty much lived her life living and breathing one thing thing she wasn't given a choice to do so early on in her life. Knowing just one thing, held her to lose a lot of the things that come so naturally to us and what is given to us from the people we love. A fighter that she is and the one person that fate pushed to her, would that be enough for her to break through and find her own way to love and happiness? 24. I was blown away by this book/series. I "purchased" four books (Frozen Barriers, Hidden Barriers, Burning Barriers, and Broken Barriers). The books were all for free so I thought why not. I didn’t anticipate a great read as lately it seems a lot of the "free" reads are smut filled, thrown together and poorly written books. However I have found some good authors by the "free" book. Boy, I was in for a surprise!!! I wasn't anticipating being blown away with this refreshing read. Each book is a w [...]

    25. Emily is a figure skater that is controlled by her parents. They have planned out her whole future for her. She doesn't know really how to socialize with other kids her age. Her mother is overbearing and over controlling. Emily isn't allowed to have friends at all.Jeremy is an ice skater who plays hockey and plans on playing in the pros. He has an older brother and a younger sister and loving parents that support him fully. One day while Jeremy was at hockey practice he bumped into Emily and knoc [...]

    26. Sara Shirley's debut novel, Frozen Barriers, is a fantastic story from start to finish. It has the perfect mixture of wit, romance, angst, and redemption. Emily Cameron is well on her way to reaching stardom on the ice as a professional figure skater, but it is a dream that her overbearing parents desire more than she does. Jeremy Page is a minor league hockey player with his own dream of making it in the NHL. At a very young age, they awkwardly meet outside the locker room of the local rink in [...]

    27. This was a great story about a figure skater and a hockey player. I really enjoyed the story. It made me laugh, and it made me cry, and sometimes, it made me so angry. This was great because it really drew my emotions. Emily is an 11 year old who is living a life that nobody else can really imagine. Her mother is her manager who yells and humiliates Emily. Jeremy is a 13 year old hockey player who absolutely loves his sport. They happen to skate at the same ice rink, but don't know each other. O [...]

    28. My ReviewFrozen Barriers bySara Shirley6/02/14©Lexy StorriesA surprisingly great debut! Frozen Barriers is the kind of story that makes you want to crawl into your favorite reading nook with something yummy to drink and be blissfully comfortable with a story that at its core is a coming of age, a recognition of self worth and contentment. Sometimes you come across a new author or a debut genre and you find the story lacking that grip that pulls you in, with Frozen Barriers that’s not the case [...]
