    1. I have to be honest at first I did find it hard to get my teeth into but I continued because I'm not a quitter. How glad am I that I did, this book captured my emotions and I fell in love with the characters. Unlike some it wasn't easy to guess what would happen the story flowed well and had an amazing storyline. I can't wait for book 2 DJ Larkin please let it be very soon!!! This will certainly be a book I recommend to family and friends and read again.

    2. I'd like to start this review out a little different than I normally do. This book is written by a man. A man whose wife is a fan, a great fan, of our blog, One More Chapter. She never mentioned this to us, even though we had interacted many times. I discovered that her husband was a published author during a release party for a different author. I am so very thrilled that I did. I'm so surprised to be honest. I didn't know what to expect when I started it. I read and love Richard Paul Evans boo [...]

    3. Sapphira has gotten her life figured out just yet she's still working at a bookstore 7 years later that's now closing down. Her best and only friend has just gotten a job in Pittsburgh meaning she has to move to San Diego and with no other options Sapphira moves with her. But before their final move they go on a vacation to Mexico, she's never been anywhere before but Sapphira is determined to enjoy herself. When she falls (litterally) for a man there it doesn't seem like her fairytale fantasy w [...]

    4. Hot rich Alexander Thomas lost his wife 5 years ago in a tragic accident. Sweet shy Sapphira Jones who lives with best friend Angie. On a vacation to Mexico before moving to Pittsburg finding her dream job her life changes when she bumps into Alexander. She spends her vacation admiring him from afar until brave Angie drags her to talk to him discovering they will be returning to the same place after their vacation. 6. I am glad that I was the one that got to review Vacant Hearts for the Eye Candy Bookstore crew. Vacant Hearts is the story of two people with emotional issues that hold them back from finding love. Sapphira Jones is a young woman who is very inexperienced in life due to a not so great upbringing by very strict parents. Alexander Thomas is a wealthy novelist and widower who is mourning the loss of his wife and who tries to stay out of the public eye and to himself. Sapphira is portrayed as a very [...]

    7. I LOVED this book! It was an amazing read beginning to end. I loved that I was so into it that I actually felt like I was growing with Sapphira. She started out as this little mousy girl with no real interest in much of anything and then BAM she met Alex and he really unshelled who she truly is. The problem I typically have with books is that the flow is never smooth beginning to end. There is always some place it gets choppy or off center but the flow of this book never even hit a slight glitch [...]

    8. When I started this book, I noticed that I held myself just outside of the story. I observed the way Alexander remained aloof and I watched Sapphira question her position in the world as well as the events that led her to that point. It was closer to the middle where I started to wonder just what was going to happen between Alexander and Sapphira. Would they maintain their friendship during the "friends with benefits" stage? Would Alexander give her the chance to heal the devastation of his wife [...]

    9. CAN't WaitFinally a book that stands on its own merits rather than attempt to ride on the popularity of other books. Vacant Hearts is reminiscent of Fifty Shades of Grey yet it does not hail itself as such and is fresh enough to stand on its own merits. It's characters, Sapphira Jones and Alexander Thomas ,like Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey ,are contrasts in innocence and experience, strength and fragility, hope and hopelessness. Caution: this story has mature adult content but how can it [...]

    10. Sapphire was shy and very critical of herself. Alexander was attracted to her but was having trouble getting over his wife's death. The ending or should I say cliff hanger was heart breaking.

    11. Review by Laura potterVacant Hearts By Dj Larkin Alexander Thomas a famous author, stopped living 5 years ago when his wife Emily died. Since then he has been grieving, he has become withdrawn from everyone and everything even from his writing and has been living in a secluded house all by himself. He decides to return to the resort in Mexico he and his wife went to on their honeymoon in hopes to move forward. What Alexander doesn’t know, is that he is about to embark on an emotional roller coa [...]

    12. I felt this as a sweet love story, this book starts out with Alexander’s story, his story of suffering with the fact that the only woman he every loved, or ever wanted to love has been dead for 5 years now and he can’t seem to get over her passing. So he decides to try and move on, by going to the place where they started, their honeymoon. What Alexander doesn’t realize though is that he is about to meet a woman that will captivate his every thought and might even help him move on. Sapphir [...]

    13. Larkin is such a descriptive writer that I felt like I was right there with Alexander and Sapphira, they're so realistic and well written. I found myself pulled into Sapphira's role, experiencing her emotions right along with her. Her insecurities are something that I believe most readers will be able to relate to. I found myself smiling and laughing over her relationship with Angie, cringing with embarrassment during the awkward moments and tearing up during the sweet ones and maybe growling a [...]

    15. Ahh desired yet out of reach. Trying to forget and move on, "but I am half-dead without her," Alexander torturous soul screams. Sapphira search for love, someone to fill her desires. No Commitment, No Kissing, No Snuggles, No Overnight Stay. Agreement acknowledged, now comes the Friday lessons. Got your attention, huh? Read the book to find out about Friday lessons:DThis story captured the essence of desire. Every little detail, glances, anticipation, possessiveness, shattered expectation, frazz [...]

    16. Excellent Thought Provoking Read!!!!5 STARSAlexander is so broken. He is full of grief and still mourns his deceased wife after 5 years, but I am a believer of fixing the broken. Wowed by the ending that has me in a crazy fit to read the next book to know what will happen with Sapphira and Alexander! It was truly a relationship going one step forward and two steps back.I really enjoyed the passion that the characters have with each other also. But OMG I want to shake some sense into the troubled A [...]

    17. Monotonous start to a seriesSapphira is an extremely boring woman and Alexander doesn't come off better. He's this world renowned author that's incredibly rich and a master in every concept. Saffy falls for him of course and leads herself to believe she can be friends with benefits without getting hurt. Alexander is very up front from the start of a nothing other than sex. He is still mourning his wife. Ultimately, you can't compete with a dead ghost. I'm glad this book is over. Alexander was to [...]

    18. I won this book in a giveaway. (Sorry, Mr. Larkin, but it took me a while to write this review.)This was a really good read. You think only females can write romance? Check out this book by D. J. Larkin! It was a great story, with realistic, actually very nice characters. Also, the setting was Pittsburgh, my home town, so there was another dimension that appealed to me. There was humor, friendship, sex, and a twist to the story that I didn't see coming. I plan to read the sequel. Hopefully, it wo [...]

    19. Sapphira and Alexander meet on a chance and she is needing a lesson in life and love. Alexander enjoys Sapphira so much they become friends by email and begin a good kind of romance. When she feels more for him and has to let him know so in person. They both stated they wanted more and then the unthinkable happens and crushes Sapphira but also to Alexander. Great book. Can't wait to start the next one.

    20. This book was amazing. It was so good that I immediately went and bought the next 2 books in the series. It is short, and full of sex. If the sex isn't your thing than you wouldn't like it. I for one loved it

    21. beautiful readingI don't know about these books with such large cliffhanger. It's very well written, and the characters flow well. Looking forward to next book.

    22. Love this book it is written so well that you feel every emotion the characters feel in the book! It is a must read!

    23. It's worth rereading before moving on to the long awAited book three. But first, book two. I want to savor the completion in Book three
