    1. Lu il y a 20 ans avec ferveur et enthousiasme, puis oublié à la faveur de la sublime "tragédie" musicale qui s'en inspire. Revisité en ce mois de Novembre pour m'en remémorer les trappes et les élans et élucider certaines questions que j'étais venue à me poser quand à la genèse de ce fantôme qui parmi les figures littéraires imaginaires compte parmi mes préférées.     2. The novel is split into two parts - the first a mystery, the second an adventure. It is hard to believe how they clash. The first part is wonderful (5 stars) and the second terrible (1 star) - so overall a bit average and quite disappointing.
