    1. A beautiful and painful view into a world I wish I didn't know so well. I was concerned about reading a tale that centered around the role of the spouse in terminal illness, more than a little concerned. It rang true in so many ways, but now I do not regret taking the scary step, and would encourage all to read this lovely novel. I laughed and cried and felt deeply for the characters. Thank you, Barbara!

    2. I lost my husband to cancer last October, I started to read this in the hopes of finding some comfort in similar stories. Instead all I feel is sickness and hate for Libby & Nick. When in the midst of losing a spouse they may push you away but if you truly love them and truly believe in your vows then you stick it out and make it work. No. Matter. What. You don't run off and have affairs because you're sexually frustrated, in reality your world is crumbling & you're losing your partner a [...]

    3. I received this book from the first reads program. It took some time of reflection before I could decide what to say about this one. The main characters are in the awful position of watching their spouses fight cancer, and they are left to find a way to cope. The novel centers around the ways they found to cope with the cancer, their feelings, life, and death. I laughed, cried, cheered, and was appalled while reading. And I know that I will be mulling this one over for a long time.

    4. I loved that Ferrer surprised me in Both Sides Now. I loved the range of emotions, the compassion and affection for her characters. Well done.

    5. I'm going to be honest here -- I couldn't even finish this book. The story starts with Nick and Libby meeting at a cancer treatment hospital. Both their spouses are fighting cancer and the prognosis for each is not good. Nick and Libby become friendsd then more. Thank G-d I don't have this as one of my life experiences so I don't know how I'd react to a loved one battling cancerbut I Do Know that I treasure my husband and the vows we took. Instead of getting the help they need to deal with the h [...]
