    1. 22/8 - This is getting 1 star for having the stupidest, most contrived 'get the couple alone so they can pre-empt their wedding night' scene I've ever read.(view spoiler)[Dominic and Brooke get kidnapped by highway men and taken back to their camp till Dominic pays the ransom. If he refuses, the gang's leader promises death to the both of them. They are separated so the leader can negotiate with Dominic regarding the ransom he's willing to pay, while Brooke is questioned by an old woman who seem [...]

    3. Just plain Okay read. Started good, then just nose dived to boring from there. The end twist was unexpected, but yet again not great.Unfortunately, I've stopped expecting anything great from Johanna Lindsey. So the book was actually as I expected, lukewarm.

    4. Back in the eighties and nineties I escaped the every day world of diapers and dinners by opening beautiful romances by this author. Since I am a loyal fan, I was thrilled to see a new book. She did not disappoint. Strong heroines and equally strong heroes who always need to have sense beaten into them by the women. When you're a young mother who can't get her husband to put his laundry in the hamper much less operate the machine, these novels hit the spot brilliantly.

    5. Full review at Smart Bitches, Trashy BooksBack when I was a little baby Elyse, still too embarrassed to check out romances from the library lest the librarian judge me, I raided my aunt’s Johanna Lindsey stash. I had just finished reading everything Kathleen Woodiwiss had ever written (which wasn’t much) and was hungering for more. My aunt was an avid romance reader and had all of Lindsey’s paperbacks lining several shelves in her basement. It was a feast of bronze-chested Fabios, golden m [...]

    6. Make me Love You by Johanna Lindsey is a 2016 Pocket Books publication. This latest endeavor by Johanna Lindsey is a light historical romance centered around Brooke Whitworth and Lord Dominic Wolfe, whose families are sworn enemies. After Dominic and Brooke’s brother engage in not one, not two, but THREE duels, the prince regent steps in and insists Brooke and Dominic marry. If they refuse, they stand to lose a vast amount of their land holdings. With no loyal feelings towards her family, Broo [...]

    7. I gave this book a C+ for the story and a B+ for the narration at AudioGalsNarration by Beverley A. CrickEvery once in a while I listen to a romance audiobook that while the blurb attracts me, the actual execution of the story just misses. Unfortunately, that was the case for me for Make Me Love You. In the end, while I was interested enough to listen to the entire story, and definitely felt invested enough to know how the story was resolved, I just had trouble feeling the love connection betwee [...]

    9. I love historical romances! This one was a hit for me because of the slow building romance. I hate all that instalove bs. This was a fun Saturday morning read to break up all the epic fantasy I've been reading, and maybe give me a break from pokemon go.

    11. I took a real chance with this book. There weren't enough reviews or ratings to get an accurate idea about the book BUT the blurb was pretty compelling.I'm so happy to say my gamble paid off. I loved it. Kinda sweet, kinda tart.Couldn't keep the smile off my face.I had way too much trouble putting it down. Even ended up being rude to my guests by ignoring them and continuing to read instead :P .It was worth it! :P

    13. I can barely believe this is a Johanna Lindsey book. Not that I have read that many books of her. However, I have come to expect a certain degree of angst and romance from her that this book didn't satisfy.First of all, am I really supposed to believe the protagonists love each other when they spent 99% of the book butting heads and not in a good way?Brooke was all like 'I need to make him love me so that he won't send me away.' and Dominic was all like 'Be gone with ye, witch! I won't tolerate [...]

    14. Okay, no structure for this review as I listened to this audiobook a while ago so don't remember particulars but here are my notes along with added, remembered infoI really enjoyed this book considering it's premise in the historical romance genre was a bit different from others. I loved how the Chick and Dude didn't like each other at first. And I appreciated that the motivations of the Chick to make this relationship work was different from any other HR books I have ever read. While in this mu [...]

    16. DNFed 20%The premise sounded so interesting but the execution is so freaking boring! So far, the heroine has spent more time with her maid than the hero.

    17. There were numerous scenes, especially at the beginning of MAKE ME LOVE YOU, which made it nearly impossible to stop reading until I discovered how the situation would play out. Whether it was the reaction of a particular character, or what would take place during an event, I just had to know the all the details before putting the book down for even a moment. Brooke Whitworth is a fascinating heroine, as she hides her spirted temperament from most people by seeming meek and too intimidated to ca [...]

    18. "You are as stuck with me as I am with you, no matter how much we both hate it."FINAL DECISION:  Rather bland characters and story make this a book that was okay to read but not one I will rush to pick up againE STORY:  Brooke Whitworth is ordered by the Prince Regent to be sent to marry Lord Dominic Wolfe, the enemy of her hated brother in order to settle a dispute which has led to three duels between the men.  If either family does not participate, their lands and titles will be forfeit. Br [...]

    19. As most of the other reviewers have said, this was a pretty bland story. Not bad, just not really good either. Which is a shame, because I started out really liking the book. The story is that the hero, Dominic Wolfe has challenged the heroine, Brooke Whitworth's, brother Robert to 3 duels. Injuries have been incurred on both sides and the Prince Regent, sensing an opportunity, decides to swoop in and decree that Dominic and Brooke must marry to bring peace between the two families. If either sid [...]

    20. 2 stars. The first historical romance I ever read was a Johanna Lindsey book. It was funny, entertaining and gripping, and with a 5 star rating initiated my venture into the genre. Thus I feel I should be forgiven for clinging to some old loyalty that keeps me picking up each new Lindsey novel as it is released, despite the fact that since the original Malory and princess series, her books on the whole have fell undoubtedly flat.'Make me love you' had a rather unbelievable premise to begin with, b [...]

    21. Overall I enjoyed it. It was light and fluffy, and didn't hold much depth, but that's fine. I wasn't looking for a lot of depth out of it anyway. There were times, however, when I wanted to slap the main character (Brooke), and tell her to shut up. Or when I felt like it was just a little too ridiculous. The ending was especially a little much. I also started rolling my eyes every time she described Dominic as a wolf, because it was just way too often. I was also surprised by the fact that seemi [...]

    23. I enjoyed this historical romance even with all the animosity until the end. The events throughout kept it interesting and the ending had lots of surprises. I generally liked both hero and heroine although some of their actions were frustrating. The Prince Regent orders Brooke to marry Dominic because he challenged her brother to three duels.

    24. Well, Johanna Lindsey clearly knows what I dig in books. I may be biased here because she's one of my favorite authors but who cares, right? ;)I so enjoyed Brooke and Dom's snappy and witty dialogues and their relationship mishaps. But I was very disappointed that in the end Robert turned out to be—how should I phrase it?—not-that-bad-just-misguided guy.

    25. Update: Still very bad. One of the worst HR books I've read. Might just give up because it is a waste of my time.---------I can't believe I'm still reading this. It's terrible. The plot is ridiculous, the dialogue is painful, the characters are awful bad, bad, bad. It's a bad book.Plus, it's not much of a romance. The "hero" and heroine don't like each other very much, and the "hero," especially, doesn't seem interested in the heroine at all. Like, at all. (I put "hero" in quotes because he's mo [...]

    26. This is my first Johanna Lindsey read in years, probably at least 5 or more. Her newer releases just don't have what her books from the 80's and 90's gave us. However, this one seemed like an interesting premise so I decided to read it. Honestly, it seemed as if the hero and the heroine weren't together too often. When they were together, for about 60% of the book there was strife, which was a bit aggravating. I certainly wanted more from the hero's POV. I don't feel I knew enough about what he [...]

    27. Loved it!Johanna Lindsey is one of my favorite authors that I have to buy her books on release day.Lady Brooke Whitworth has been dreaming of her first Season in London because she intends to win a husband who will take her far away from her unloving family. Instead, she is being sent to the Yorkshire moors to wed a mysterious nobleman whose family is cursed and who has thrice tried to kill her brother. But there’s no room in her heart for fear; this man is her means of escape. She will make h [...]
