    1. Its an OK sort of book that will appeal to those who like fantasy and also those that like parody/humour, but it isn't a great book. Too much of the humour is based on plays on words in the names of people and places (Angnail, Unch Haven, Dol Dupp and many more). There are few actually funny scenes, situations or conversations. There is a reasonable enough story, a typical fantasy genre quest, but nothing highly orginal in it. The orcs, elves and humans are basically lifted straight off the pages [...]

    2. I did enjoy this book quite a lot. Some great writing but I have to admit parts of it were a little hard going. Mainly the fight scenes. I had to work hard to decide how many stars to give as three stars seemed to low for a book that has a compelling enough story to keep me reading but I have given other books that enjoyed a lot more four stars. If only we could give half stars. Lots of thought has been given to the characters and they are well fleshed out with the reader always wanting to know [...]

    3. Oh dear. As another reviewer put it: "this book follows in the footsteps of Discworld. Except that it forgoes Pratchett's clever use of tropes and idiosyncratic characters to replace them with pop culture references and offensive stereotypes". I couldn't have put it better. This puntastic book is very poorly written - it reads like an unedited first draft - with crudely modelled characters and a weak, meandering plot that only serves to set up the next cringeworthy parody. This would have made go [...]

    4. This would have been a much better and funnier book had Mr Bibby not been reacting so strongly against Tolkien. And if he'd read less Pratchett. There are a few interesting touches, but it's hard to discern any original voice with all that going on. Still, it's his first book, and it was amusing in places, so I suspect I'll give him at least one more try.

    5. Yes, like the tagline says this book follows in the footsteps of Discworld. Except that it forgoes Pratchett's cleaver use of tropes and idiosyncratic characters to replace them with pop culture references and offensive stereotypes.

    6. A fun readI'm grouping all three books together.Fortunately while it was also extremely difficult to find the other Ronan's Rescue and Ronan's Revenge, I did manage to collect them from various UK internet sitesFantastic series!
