    1. ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review.Yeahat's how I felt reading page after pageI really, really hate it when I have to give a low rating for a book that I had such high hopes for. When I read the blurb I thought for sure that this would be an awesome read. I mean what's not to love? You have sci-fi action, romance and even a freaking conspiracy between good and evil that wants to destroy the human race and turn them into mindless and emotionless robots. But by God, what rea [...]

    2. I was asked by Ally to read the book and write an honest review. First I was a little bit sceptical, because this was the first time someone asked me to write a review, I also was not sure how I felt about science fiction books and did not know what to do in case I did not like the book. But now that I have read it I am so happy that I accepted the offer! This book is so thrilling and I find Ally very intriguing to come up with such a great idea! The main character is Ava who was raised by her au [...]

    3. Words can't explain how much I was enthralled while reading The Descendant. It was an experience like no other.Ava's been busy with her upcoming wedding, but something's off after she receives the strangest news ever. Because Ava Davenport isn't your usual human. There's something more to her than meets the eye. Beyond realms, a different world exists, one that promises hope, magic, beauty and love. Earth, however is plagued by fear. The planet is being terrorized by the Xemlix in the hopes of s [...]

    4. Ava Davenport (non-human, fiancée) is planning her wedding.Meldrick Richglow visits her at night. He has a message for her. Xemlix Civilization plans on taking over the world. Meldrick takes Ava Davenport (human-Eff girl) to the Lapo civilization. But is she really safe there?Ava struggles with her own issues & goes to see a shaman. Chloe (Ava’s BFF) was captured by Victor. What are the Stream of wellbeing’s (guidance)? What Victor Smith (PI) is up to?Will Xemlix & Lapo go to war? Ear [...]

    5. I recieved a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review. Well I think this was a good first book, and I must say I think it was made for younger girls. As a nearly 22 year old woman I felt that this book was a bit rushed and it could have been stretched out a little more. Then the world building could have been a little more and the character development as well. I thought that everything happened so fast in this book that I couldn´t really connect to the characters. Normally I need [...]

    6. I fell in love with this book from the very first page! It reads very smoothly and once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. I love it that the book mainly consists of dialogues, not of boring descriptions. I wonder what happened to Xenia, but anyway I’m glad she disappeared. The Lapo dimension seems to be an amazing place and Meldrick is the type of a man that’s hard to find nowadays. I wish I also had a guardian like him in other dimension. I can’t wait to read more about Meldrick and A [...]

    7. This was a well written sci-fi book for the YA reader. There were colorful characters. The characters did come across as being very stiff and predictable. The overall storyline was well thought out and organized. There were no plot holes which leads to future books using the same characters.I can see this series being made into a movie.

    8. A fun, exciting and whimsical adventure you won't want to miss!In The Descendant, Ms. Capraro instantly grabs you with a dark dimension that is set on terrorizingcivilians on Earth in order to survive and gain more control over all dimensions. But I warn you, she's justgetting started. Once introduced to Ava and Chloe and then "Meldrick" I was hooked, so much that Ipopped open my phone and read on ski lifts in order to find out what would happen next. While reading this book, I was instantly inve [...]

    9. First let me mention I was given an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review. Now on with the review: I would categorise this book as a young adult sci fi romance. Even though this is labelled as 'book one', you could read it as a stand alone book because it does have an ending. In this world the author has imagined, there are 3 dimensions namely earth, xemlix (evil aliens) and lapo (good aliens). A human girl starts getting visitations from a charming lapo who then rescues her fr [...]

    10. To start with I really liked this book. Just think 2 dimensions with portals on Earth ( there are more but this book only really gets into the 2) one a symbiotic relationship with the happier and better the humans are the better the Lapo are. The other the evil parasitic Xemlix who live and grow strong off of the fear of mankind and want to turn humans into slaves and fear generators. Add Ava who might be able to save the humans and the Lapo with the help of Meldrick her Lapo guardian who has lo [...]

    11. "Descendant (Guardians of the World's Book 1) by Ally Capraro is my first read from this author but it will not be my last. It is a clean romance, sci-fi/fantasy for Young adults. I enjoyed reading it and since it's not an adult romance I would say that girls 13 and up would enjoy it too. You have Ava who is preparing for her wedding and then all sorts of out of this world things begin to happen.

    12. I just finished reading it last night. Wow! What an incredible experience. It reminded me of the movie, "Jupiter Ascending." Similar scheme and so exciting. Kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Definitely coyly romantic and riveting!

    13. The storyline of this particular series is intriguing. The only thing that let it down was the lack of editing. People are deterred after too many spelling errors hit them, but I was determined to see it to the end, and was glad that I did. Great job.

    14. NOTE: I received this book early from the author in exchange for an honest review.*****SPOILER ALERT******There are a lot of things that annoyed me about The Descendant which is unfortunate because I was really hoping that I would like it. However, it did not live up to my expectations and I was left sorely disappointed. To start, everything in this book moves at such a fast pace that it is difficult to care about one particular character or another. For example: Ava (the main character) starts [...]

    15. This was the first time I've been part of a pre-release launch team and I was really excited about writing a review for this book. I usually like sci-fi books, and was hoping to read the first book of a potentially great series, however it left me somewhat disappointed. But let’s start with the positives. After getting over the initial confusion with all the names, it really pulls you in. It’s an easy read, the whole book can be read in a couple of hours.I can say that I liked the universe cre [...]

    16. I really loved this book, i was asked to review this book and i am so glad that i was. It is like nothing else i have ever read beforesuch original ideas in the story. One of the ideas of the book that i really enjoyed was the idea of subliminal messages in the media to aggravate or insire joy. A subtle way without anyone knowing apart from seeing the results.Love is a big part of this book, at the beginning of the book it is really about listening to your intuition and not doing anything that th [...]

    17. *I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*I absolutely LOVE the cover of this book! It's really beautiful! Buuut I think the book fell a short of my expectations. I didn't really feel a strong connection to the characters, and it the conversations between the characters were too formal. I felt like the characters needed to loosen up a bit. And I didn't like how the main female acted, she was way too trusting and that nearly landed her in hot water.Well, the main characters [...]

    18. I was apart of a launch team and asked to give an honest review. This is a science-fiction/ fantasy with multiple planets and a touch of fluffy romance.Ava is a journalist who is swept into a feud between planets where she is sought after for an ability unknown to her while being protected from a man from Lapo. Xemlix survive through fear and wish to evoke this emotion on Earth before enslaving it. Ava takes the whole thing with an optimistic approach.I really tried to stick it out and sink into [...]

    19. DNF at 40%I was given a pdf copy of the book 3 weeks before the release so I'd write a review. At first, I was honoured and I was so excited to read it because the blurb was promising. Soon after starting, I realised I was wrong. The story sounded interesting at first, I'd never read anything like this before so when I started I was thrilled but a couple of pages in and I knew this book isn't for me. The writing style is the major turn off for me; the flow is terrible, honestly I felt like I was [...]

    20. I was sent this book as free in return for an honest review at the end. This is the sort of book I would pick up at the airport and read at the beach. It's easy to dip in and out of and doesn't require a lot of hard thinking/reflection. I enjoy sci-fi and was looking forward to reading this book. This reads the way a friend would tell you a story; it often jumps from one exciting scene straight to the next - which isn't a bad thing, but sometimes felt like the author hit fast forward and gave yo [...]

    21. This book is well written. Author Ally Capraro is VERY talented. This book is excellent to get lost in, although it is a tiny bit slow to get into ( maybe that is just me, i was ill when i started reading.) The pace picks up very quickly. The story is set between Earth and two other worlds, one evil one good. Its a great evil v good story. A beautiful romance (very clean) which stole my heart, I found my self laughing and crying throughout the book! The sci fi parts are well thought out and I woul [...]

    22. I really enjoyed reading this book! I would definitely recommend this book to everybody. If you haven't read it yet do it! You will thank me later :)What I most liked is how book is set in different dimensions, there is one dimension full of evil villains, the second one is on our world with "normal" human beings, the third dimension is called Lapo, which is my favourite. While the villains try to destroy the world, Lapo residents try to save human population. I really liked the main character A [...]

    23. I was asked to be part of the launch team and I gladly expected. I want to post my review on launch day but had a family emergency. So here is the true and honest review I promised. Once I started reading I was sucked into the book. I fell in love with Ava who is in the middle of planning her wedding. She has a night visitor that turns her world upside down and she just can't stop thing thinking about either. I won't say any more because I don't want to spoil the experience of this book for anyo [...]

    24. I was given the chance to read this book in exchange for a pre-publication review, and I'm really glad I took it!a cleverly written book with interesting and likeable characters. I especially liked the musical links modern jazz is used as the conduit for the Xemlix's (bad guys) contamination and a beautiful aria for transportation to the perfect world of the Lapos. the book transported me through two two-hour train journeys and left me wanting more!

    25. So I did receive a free copy of this for an honest review, and here we go(without spoilers)! Overall, the characters were balanced well, a couple times I thought the main protagonist would have asked, "well what about this" but didn't, but overall I couldn't keep the book down. Can't wait for book 2!

    26. This was a fun easy read --- part romance (very clean), science fiction, royalty, wars, magic and very imaginative! It took me maybe a full day to read, just because I couldn’t put it down – and even became very anxious as more and more details of the bad people were revealed --- an amazing, fun adventure! The ending was good also --- so could be a read alone but, I want to see what happens next…

    27. I read this book in a few hours. When you start reading it just pulls you in, like you are watching a movie, you can see everything happening in your head. I really love this book and I can't wait to read 'The Beginning'. If you love a original Science-Fiction book, this is the one!

    28. I have to say that this book lost me by the middle of Chapter 2. The premise of the story is very interesting, but the dialog between the characters is hard to swallow. Still, it is more believable than the dialog in the movie "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" between Anakin and anyone he is talking to at the time for the most part (sorry George). I am going to give this one another go at a later time, and will update my review once it is done. However, if you are looking to read this [...]

    29. An engaging bit of fluff. We have the usual hunk of an other-worldly guardian – Meldrick by name – and the girl, Ava, who is unknowingly descended from another species and possesses unsuspected superpowers. The best parts are the luxurious appointments on the ship The Lapo Princess, and the Xemlix – the evil villains. The story would probably make a great comic book.Ava is planning to be married, but she is beginning to have doubts about her intended. Meldrick begins appearing in her dream [...]
