    1. Wendy Vella

Writing is something Wendy has always found time for, and as an incurable romantic, the romance genre was a natural fit When her children were small, she would find writing time in the early hours of the morning, sitting quietly with her grandfather s old typewriter while the family slept These works, however, she says, will never see the light of day She joined Romance Writers of New Zealand and started honing her craft, and after years of contests and conferences, she was finally ready to publish her first book 28 books later she is still providing her reader with compelling love stories, laced with humor, sensuality, and intrigue After hitting the best seller ranks on with her historical series, including the Langley Sisters and Regency Rakes, Wendy has moved into contemporary, and historical paranormal romance also, and loving every minute of it Born and raised in a rural area in the North Island of New Zealand, she shares her life with her husband of 32 years, two grown up children, and her old dog Molly and is a true Patriotic Kiwi

    1. Another great book in a wonderful series! We finally get to Newman's story and it was one that was worth the wait. Newman is a character who lives to help people, wears designer clothes, and likes to keep order to his life. So of course the woman he falls for has to be chaotic. And Hope Lawrence is exactly that. When they opposites attract, Newman and Hope are a perfect example. My favorite part about this book and about this couple is the clashing of their personalities. Their witty banter will [...]

    2. The sparks between Newman and Hope leapt off the page. The snarky, witty banter between them was probably what first hooked me on the story. As I got to know more about Newman and Hope, the story kept pulling me deeper in. I needed to know how they were going to get it all sorted out. Newman's been a bit of an enigma in the earlier books. Always ready to help but we never got to see beneath his surface. Finding out what makes him tick made me fall in love with him right along with Hope - I wasn' [...]

    3. I've read the Lake Howling series from the very beginning when Jack and Branna fell in love. I fell right along with them and have been falling with every couple since. As a fellow small towner, I must say, Vella nails the small town community. Whether you flew into Lake Howling via a chopper, married a local or are finally returning home after flying the coop, once the town considers you family you'll find an army of community members behind you ready to battle your foes. I love that.A Long Way [...]

    4. Newman and Hope are such an odd couple from appearances but, they are absolutely perfect together. Their quick wit and sharp tongues are an interesting kind of foreplay for their obvious attraction. The most touching scenes are between them are at the beginning where Newman rescues Hope from a bar. He begins to notice Hope in a more adult way than when they were in school. Hope's stubborn and independent personality causes friction with the do gooder, Newman but, they can't seem to stop thinking [...]

    5. witty, romantic, great charactersThis was a wonderful love story about two people with an adversarial past who reconnect in a completely different way. A very well written romantic book with great banter and hot chemistry between Newman and Hope. I loved how the relationship developed between these two, building on their history and tying in their current feelings with that past. The characters were very detailed and immensely likable and the storyline was unique. Unlike a lot of books set in sm [...]

    6. I love this series by Wendy Vella! This series revolves around a small town with small town values and where everyone knows everyone and is in everyone's business whether wanted or not. Hope Lawrence's life has fall apart in every way possible. She has lost her job, her boyfriend and her savings in one fell swoop. Going home doesn't feel like an option because then she would have to admit that she messed up and what makes it even more embarrassing is the fact that her childhood nemesis has seen [...]

    7. Excellent about coming home again. I like small towns as everyone seems to look out for everyone elsed that is the way of things in Lake Howling. Cute names like The Lair, Hoot, and others make up the places in town where this little band of friends hang out. Once back in town, Hope finds she fits in better than she remembered. Mostly thanks to Newman, but it must just be so he can get on her nerves more. It couldn't be more, could it?! I liked how everyone stuck together and worked together to [...]

    8. If you are looking for a good book to take on your weekend getaway this one is it. Hope and Paul have been frenemies since elementary school. They grew up in a small town where every one knows everyone's business. When he finds her on accident dancing on a chair in a seedy bar it becomes his mission in life to save her from herself and her problems no matter how hard she is fighting him. Paul is your classic good looking, good natured hero with just enough 'mean' in him to keep him from being pe [...]

    9. This is the sixth book in the Lake Howling series and features Hope and Newman. Childhood nemeses who reconnect when Hope returns home to Lake Howling after a series of bad events in her life. They are such opposites in many ways. He likes order and designer clothes. She shoots from the hip and puts on the first thing she finds. He sees her at her worse and takes care of her. Sweet to watch their love slowly grow and realize they're right together and more alike than they thought. Heartwarming a [...]

    11. Two completely different personalities gravitate to each other, the quirky banter between these two keep you entertained and fall in love as two souls find their match. Wheat a delightful story that keeps you turning the pages to find their HEA. The town and people pull you in wishing you could be one of the family. I voluntarily read a copy of this book and it was a really good read. A Great addition to the wonderful series.

    12. Growing in complexity I love that this series is growing in complexity. Each pair has a very unique situation and a special way in which they communicate and grow together. Sometimes when an author writes a series the people begin to blend together and you feel like you’re wasting your time buying and reading the next book. Not so with the Lake Howling series! I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: I love each book more than the last!

    13. Hope has lost her job, money and boyfriend and the last person she expected to run into was Paul from her hometown Lake Howling. She is a loner, but she finally realizes that having friends that support her is better. Good story with romance and some mystery. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
