    1. What ailment brought Al Jolson to his knees while first singing "You Made Me Love You"? What song did Marie Antoinette make internationally famous after hearing a cradle nurse sing it as a lullaby at court? What famous Beatles song once contained the lyrics "Scrambled eggs, oh my baby how I love your legs"? Read this to get the answers to all these questions and more! A slyly humorous must read for music lovers! -Lindsey D.-

    2. First off, I was glad that this book introduced me to so many excellent songs, and the stories behind them. That being said, it took me a looooong time to get through it because I wanted to listen to each song before I read about it, and didn't always have a computer around. If I have any complaint about the book, it would be that the additional facts in each "chapter" rarely had anything to do with the song mentioned. All in all, a good book.

    3. A fun reference book that explores the stories behind 40 of "the world's best loved songs." One of my favorites, "Send in the Clowns," was written for British star Glynis Johns, who had a miminal singing voice. Sondheim gave it "simple brief phrases, clipped words, almost nothing sustained, plenty of places to breathe." (p. 169) Surprisingly, it was the hit of the show, "A Little Night Music," which opened in 1973.

    4. seeing as though i love anthing to do with random trivia (especially to do with music or movies) i knew i would enjoy this book. It tells the interesting histories behind many world famous tunes. Youtube came in very handy for if i didn't immediately know a song mentioned, but i found that as i heard them i started to realise that i had indeed heard the tunes before many times in my life. a good book for anyone interested in random music history trivia.
