    1. When the mother of a precocious fourteen-year-old gay boy claims she has evidence that mega-rock-star Jimmy Gilbert has been having sex with her son, Private Investigator Greg Quaintance is hired by Jimmy’s lawyer to thwart the mother’s multi-million-dollar extortion attempt. But only hours after Greg takes the job, the mother ends up murdered and her son goes missing. Greg’s job turns to finding the boy before any harm can come to him. From the streets of Manhattan to the home of presiden [...]

    2. I can’t say I liked this book. As the reviewer Alan writes below, there is too much dialogue. It goes on for pages and became boring. I also found the way the characters are subtly (?) based on a former US president, now suffering from dementia, and being cared for by his surgically enhanced wife; a famous celebrity who’s just been found not guilty of murdering his wife, after a hugely publicised court case; and an internationally famous singer, accused of being over familiar with a young bo [...]

    3. Interesting mystery novel taking place amongst the leagues of the rich and famous, with a gay private eye :) Only drawback for me was the fact that by the end end of the book I found myself a bit lost in all the information provided for solving the mystery. I liked detective Greg Quaintance with his keen eye and sense of style and I'd love to read more books with him in the future--where the author will hopefully write more about his time in the Army and what exactly happened in there with this [...]

    4. I did not find this as 'wordy' as some others although there were a couple of places where I was tempted to 'fast-forward' the pages. There is a solid whodunnit plot, written in the classic gunshoe PI style and I do warm toward Greg our flawed detective. Enough to go onto the next book in the series anyways.

    5. What a ride! This novel began with a classic noir feel and moved slowly and tightly to a crescendo. The last 30% or so is a wild ride, indeed. Amazing how the author was able to keep all the ordinary suspects moving as swiftly as he did as both reluctant PI Greg Quaintance and the reader follows the evidence to the killer (or killers). A fine private investigator mystery and satisfying read!

    6. The first in Cooke's mystery series that tries explicitly for the gay market. Okay, but not up to his usual craziness.
