    1. Posted at Hearts on Fire Reviews 3.5 starsThis transgender romance was cute, sexy, funny, and even a little sad at times, but the cover is horrible. I was able to enjoy this story once I forgot that the creepy-looking picture of Val reminds me of Louie from Taxi. Even though Kendra thinks true love is just a fairy tale, she is not immune to the looks and charms of Valerian Dominick Riche, the school’s new principal. What a name!Goaded by her friends, Kendra discreetly admires the principal fro [...]

    2. Bryl Tyne is brilliant and I totally loved this story! It was a fantastically written story. Kendra knows who she is; the problem is that the outside, or at least part of the outside, doesn't match what she feels and knows inside. At 29 she knew that she was a spinster, that she would never find a man who could love her as she was. I felt for her in her dilemma and mourned that she didn't believe that her dreams would be come a reality. Enter Val who gave her hope, even when she fought it. I was [...]

    3. I gave it two stars for being funny, and for making me have to look up terms in order to understand big chunks of the story. Googling "gaff" and "Girl Talk" was helpful and widened a door I'd been peeking through for a while now.I expected a trashy romance novel. It's why I bought it. But I didn't expect the break-neck pace, the scene-jumping whiplash, and the eye-rolling silliness of emotions and situations. But it made me smile.

    4. This was a fun awesome read. It dealt with humor a subject that could have been very sad. I loved it. I felt for Kendra and the things that she had to go through. I rooted for Val to be the right man for her. And his parents were hysterical.I've known people like them. Bryl has them down to a tee! I really want more from these characters and hope for more stories about them from Bryl R. Tyne.

    5. I really , really wanted to like this story.I read a lot of great books and I'm afraid I was very disappointed with this one.Pity really, as I love this kind of stories.

    6. A lot of things didn't make sense (or would be insane in a real life situation, at least) but I was stoked to read the book. It's not like there are a lot of transgender romances out there!

    7. I have issues with this publisher, firstly. They don't (or didn't in the past) specify the length of their books in an easily understood manner and they overprice everything. They also don't care to edit much. Or they don't know how. I don't know which. This could have been a better story if it had been better edited, which includes, at the top of the list, how the somewhat thick-headed principle/hero JUST KNEW Kendra didn't have ladybits. Or, in the alternative, if he could JUST KNOW Kendra didn [...]

    8. This was a very brief tale of only about 78 pages long and it was a very quick read. The story is writen in the first person from the perspective of Kendra, a transgedendered school teacher. She falls in love with the new principle, Val. But is conflicted if she should act on these emotions. Kendra was a very likable character, but all of the other characters were pretty shallow. Val almost seemed very dense at times. I just wanted to smack him and wake he up! Kendra was very emotional and depre [...]

    9. I had not read any trany stories so this was interesting. The only reason that I give it a middle of a road rating is based on the flow and rushed story. If the story had been longer rather then a novella I think that it would have been better.I was unable to see why the hero was attracted to the heroine and how he figured out what she was based on a very short relationship.I would hope that this author would do a story that is longer with more info as I find that I would like to read more stori [...]

    10. On one hand, I commend Bryl Tyne for the main character; I would have slathered Kendra with so much love, if only because she's a rare creature in this genre that's so heavily populated with the same ol' hard-bodied, could-be-mistaken-for-straight heros. On the other hand, this book needed an editor. Badly. Not just for punctuation and grammar, but also for continuity and smack-my-head moments. I think it would have earned at least two more stars if someone had simply taken better care of it.

    11. This book was very confusing. The author was all over the place. Seemed as though she had a lot to say, but was given a minimum word dealine by the publisher. Could have been soo much better if she had fleshed out the story better. She just threw stuff in from left field. I was confused. Made me file like was was reading book 2 in a series. Too much was missing. Kendra also needed a good slap.

    13. 3.5 STARS This was a good read and my first transgender book. If I Were a Lady surprised me in all the right ways and gave me a good point of view of the life of a tranny.

    14. This is a fast read, and a cute, sexy story. I recommend it to anyone who wants a sex, unconventional love story. Don't read this if you're easily shocked.
