    1. 4.5 stars, I really, really enjoyed "My Lord Raven" by Jan Scarbrough. Medieval romances are my favorite and this one didn't disappoint.Catrin's father has been killed and her twin brother shortly afterward at a tournament. Her father's neighbor has blamed her father's death on Bran ap Madog, a bastard of a Welsh prince. Catrin is distraught and sets out to find the truth behind their deaths. Catrin also learns that Bran is betrothed to wed her gentle, nun-like cousin Olwen, and she knows she ha [...]

    2. Medieval England was not for the faint-hearted. This historical romance brought into focus how precarious life was in those uncertain times, with the King dictating marriages. Prestige was measured by the amount of land you owned and the alliances made by marriage. It was particularly difficult for women who had fewer rights than men. Catrin had so many losses through the death of her close family and friend, that her anger and defiance are understandable. It was an anger that I could relate to [...]

    3. I voluntarily received and reviewed an Exclusive Copy of this book for an honest review. This story is set within the historical 1283 along the Marcher lands bordering Wales. It was well written with mystery, betrayal, love and passion. The emotional road with Brian and Catrin was truly intriguing, although as I might have said earlier, I'm not into historical novels. It was surprising that I was unable to lay this book down as I had others to read it later.Lady Catrin Fitzalen was doomed to marr [...]

    4. Lady Catrin Fitzalan is strong and determined; a woman ahead of her time and fiercely loyal to her family. Her family recently suffered multiple tragedies with the deaths of both her father and brother. Rumor has it the King’s Raven, Bran ap Madog, is responsible and Lady Catrin wants vengeance. After years of serving the English king in battle the notorious King’s Raven, Bran ap Madog, wants nothing more than to settle down on lands of his own and take a wife. Being the bastard son of the W [...]

    5. I loved My Lord Raven! Set in the thirteenth century along the border between England and Wales, this story is a nice mix of romance, deception, intrigue and murder. The characters felt real to me and I was fascinated to see how they developed through the book. There were one or two questions I'd have liked answered, but I can't go into details without giving away the plot. I received a free copy of this book from Read and Review Club. This is my honest review.

    6. Amazing! Jan has brought a story to life that depicts what life was like for all back in medieval times. With this story you experience betrayal, deceptions, love, passion, good thrills and bad. The characters, at times, are as loved as they are hated. I have really enjoyed the journey with Bran and Catrin and all the other characters herein. I look forward to reading more amazing stories by Jan.

    7. I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review. I loved this Medieval Romance. I was not disappointed. The book had action as well as romance. The author did a very good job of keeping me on the edge of my seat until the actual murder of Catrin's family was revealed. I love a book with a story and not just "sex".

    8. MurderA young woman takes her cousin's place in an arranged marriage to the king's knight,The Raven. Hoping to find evidence that he murdered her father and brother, she finds herself in a dangerous position when she is attacked and almost dies. Falling in love was not the plan. Can she save her husband from an angry king? Hoping the truth will be revealed will keep you enthralled to the end.

    10. EnjoyableThis story was very enjoyable. I didn't want to put it down. I have not read any of Jan Scarbrough until I came across this in a search. I will read the others she has out. I like a good story that has grit to it.

    11. Reviewed By BlackTulip for Booked UpA very important thing that I have to find to really appreciate a book, is accuracy in the details and the settings; well in My Lord Raven I found it. I must say that the medieval background is very well depicted and full of atmosphere. I read it in two nights and had a hard time putting it down the first one!You won't find any dull moments in this book and you'll be eager to unravel the mystery behind the murders of Catrin's family. There is a very palpable a [...]

    12. This author’s medieval romance tales exhibit a thorough knowledge of life in medieval times, full of descriptions of the fragility of life in those times, the whims of royalty, and how the heart will always find a way to find its soul mate despite the difficulties and feuds involved. Ms. Scarbrough writes with passion and empathy for her hero and heroine, and this tale of Bran and Catrin is an exciting one. I just couldn’t stop reading about these two until I “helped” them reach their ha [...]
