    1. Set In Stone: The Life & Death of Medusa by R. C. Berry provides a highly creative backstory to the life of Medusa before she becomes a monster. We meet Medusa as a young, highly impressionable and naive teen. She is beautiful inside and out and adored by her "cousins" the Charities. She is invited by the Charities to a celebratory festival on Mount Olympus for the goddess Athena. While there she becomes enamored with not only Athena but Aphrodite. 2. I recommend this to anyone who ever had an interest in Mythology in their school days. I remember being fascinated and when others in school whine and complained, I immersed myself in stories of Apollo, Zeus, and Athena, my favorite. This is a cross between a historical novel and Mythology. Berry tells a story of Medusa very thoroughly and in an engaging manner. There's so much more to the "monster" than simply snakes for hair and the ability to turn men into stone. 3. I'm a lover of Greek Mythology and this book fed my craving! It's a different take on the story of Medusa. It was told so beautifully, you actually felt you were on Mount Olympus. You instantly connect with the characters which I love when reading a story. There is love, passion, betrayal oh my! You won't be able to put it down once you've started it. The prologue sets up the story and drags you in. But you won't be kicking and screaming, you'll gladly go along for the ride. If you have family a [...]

Ms. Berry does a beautiful job of taking what we knew of Medusa's tale and twists it into a wonderfully delicious back story. I am forever in love with this author's interpretation of the dynamics of the Gods and mortals. Speaking of which, that Poseidon is a real piece of work in this story. The relationship between Aphrodite and Medusa is beyond enchant [...]
